Marilyn Pryde
Marilyn Lawrence (née Pryde; born 15 May 1952) is a former New Zealand professional tennis player. Tennis career Pryde won her first national championship in 1968 as a 15-year old and made her debut for the New Zealand Federation Cup team in 1970, going on to feature in eight ties. She was runner-up to Evonne Goolagong at the 1973 New Zealand Open and also came up against Goolagong in one of her appearances at Wimbledon. The New Zealand Billie Jean King Cup team represents New Zealand in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition. It is governed by Tennis New Zealand. History A New Zealand team first competed in the Fed Cup in 1965. Its best results have been World Group quarter-finals in 1965 and 1971. Due to a late withdrawal from a competition in 2011, New Zealand were banned from competing in the 2012 Fed Cup. Terenzo Bozzone (born 1 March 1985) is a professional triathlete from New Zealand who races primarily in long distance, non-drafting events. He is the winner of the 2008 Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Athletic career Bozzone was born in South Africa and moved to New Zealand with his family as a young boy. He was a talented athlete at school winning many national titles in a variety of disciplines including cross country running, cycling, swimming and multisport. After finishing school he focused on multisport and won the 2001 & 2002 Junior Men's Elite Duathlon World Championship and the 2002 & 2003 Junior Men's Elite Triathlon World Championship. Bozzone holds the current course record for the Wildflower Triathlon set in 2006. The 1973 New Zealand Open, also known as Benson and Hedges Open for sponsorship reasons, was a combined men's and women's professional tennis tournament held at the Stanley Street grounds in Auckland, New Zealand. Evonne Goolagong
Evonne Fay Goolagong Cawley (née Goolagong; born 31 July 1951) is an Australian former world No. 1 tennis player. Goolagong was one of the world's leading players in the 1970s and early 1980s. At the age of 19, she won the French Open singles and the Australian Open doubles championships (the latter with Margaret Court). She won the women's singles tournament at Wimbledon in 1971. In 1980, she became the first mother to win Wimbledon for 66 years. Goolagong went on to win 14 Grand Slam tournament titles: seven in singles (four at the Australian Open, two at Wimbledon and one at the French Open), six in women's doubles, and one in mixed doubles. Fred Stolle and Ann Jones were the defending champions, but Jones did not compete. Stolle partnered with Evonne Goolagong, but lost in the semifinals to Ilie Năstase and Rosie Casals.
