Marije Tolman (born 1976) is a Dutch illustrator of children's literature. Career In 2010, she won the Gouden Penseel award together with her father Ronald Tolman for her illustrations in the book ''De boomhut''. She also won the Vlag en Wimpel award in 2008 for her illustrations in the book ''Mejuffrouw Muis en haar heerlijke huis'' written by Elle van Lieshout and in 2018 for her illustrations in the book ''Voor papa'' written by Daan Remmerts de Vries. In 2019, she won the Zilveren Penseel award for her illustrations in the book ''Vosje'' written by Edward van de Vendel. The Gouden Griffel (Golden Stylus) is an award given to authors of children's or teenagers' literature in the Netherlands. History Since 1971, it is awarded each year during the Dutch Children's Books Week, by the Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (Dutch Book Promotion Society) for the best children's books written in the past year. Between 1954 and 1970, one book per year was declared the "children's book of the year". Since then, ''griffels'' are awarded in several categories. Only novels written in Dutch are eligible for the ''gouden griffel''. However, the runner-up awards (Silver ''griffels'') can also be given to translated works. Daan Remmerts de Vries (born 5 April 1962) is a Dutch writer and illustrator. Career Remmerts de Vries made his debut in 1990 with ''Zippy en Slos'', a collection of short stories. He won the Gouden Griffel award twice: in 2003, for his book ''Godje'' and, in 2010, for his book ''Voordat jij er was''. He also won the Zilveren Griffel award in 2015 for ''Soms laat ik je even achter'' and in 2017 for ''T.rex Trix in Naturalis''. In 2021, he won the Theo Thijssen-prijs for his entire oeuvre. Edward van de Vendel (born 1 August 1964) is a Dutch writer of children's literature. Early life Van de Vendel was born in 1964 in Leerdam, Netherlands. He worked as a teacher for several years before becoming a full-time writer in 2001. Career Van de Vendel made his poetry debut in 1996 with ''Betrap me''. In 2001, Van de Vendel published ''Wat rijmt er op puree?'', the Kinderboekenweekgeschenk, a publication on the occasion of the annual Boekenweek (Dutch Book Week). In 2004, he won the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs together with Fleur van der Weel for the book ''Superguppie''. The Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (CPNB, "Collective Promotion for the Dutch Book") is a Dutch organization that includes representatives of bookstores and publishers, whose goal is to promote Dutch literature.
