Marija Jovanović
Marija Jovanović (born 26 December 1985) is a retired Montenegrin handball player. She played for the Montenegrin national team. She competed at the 2010 European Women's Handball Championship, where the Montenegrin team placed sixth, and Jovanović was listed among the top ten goalscorers of the tournament (scoring 31 goals). As captain, she led the Montenegrin national team when they won a gold medal at the European Championship in Serbia. After two years spent at the Ferencvárosi, she decided to end her career and graduated in Business Economics in 2018. She has been in private business ever since. Podgorica (Cyrillic script, Cyrillic: Подгорица, ; Literal translation, lit. 'under the hill') is the Capital city, capital and List of cities and towns in Montenegro, largest city of Montenegro. The city was formerly known as Titograd (Cyrillic script, Cyrillic: Титоград, ) between 1946 and 1992—in the period that Montenegro formed, as the Socialist Republic of Montenegro in honour of Marshal of Yugoslavia, Marshal Josip Broz Tito. The city was largely destroyed during the bombing of Podgorica in World War II and accordingly the city is now dominated by architecture from the following decades of communism. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
