Marie Kraja
Marie Kraja or Marie Paluca (24 September 1911 – 21 November 1999) was an Albanian opera singer who is particularly known for her delivery of Albanian folk songs. Life Kraja was born in 1911 in Zadar, Kingdom of Dalmatia, then part of Austria-Hungary, in a Catholic Church in Albania, Roman Catholic family. She was a relative of Mother Teresa, and she would later organize the funeral services for her mother and sister. When she was six, her family moved to Shkodra. Although she was an immigrant, her family were Albanians, Albanian and she had lived in a small Arbanasi people, Albanian community in Zadar. In Albania she learnt local wedding and love songs. In 1930 she started her singing studies at the Singschule (now University of Music and Performing Arts Graz), which she completed in 1934. Jorgjia Filçe-Truja
Jorgjia Filçe-Truja (20 January 1907 – 22 June 1994) was an Albanian soprano. She was one of the icons of the Albanian urban lyrical music, and one of the main contributors for the establishment of the Academy of Arts of Albania. Life She was born in Korçë, today's eastern Albania, back then still part of the Ottoman Empire on 20 January 1907. She studied in the Santa Сеcilia Conservatory in Rome during 1927–1932. She gave many concerts during the 1930s to the 1950s, becoming an icon of the urban lyrical music in Albania. Together with Tefta Tashko-Koço and Marie Kraja, she represented the avant-garde of the lyrical music in the country. People's Artist Of Albania
The People's Artist () was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts (theatre, music, cinema and art). It was created by law in 1960 and amended in 1980. The title is no longer given in Albania after the law was amended in 1996. The equivalent of it became the "Grand Master of Work" title, that was also substituted with the "Grand Master" title after a 2001 amendment of the 1996 law. Llazar Siliqi
Llazar Siliqi (1924 – 2001) was a notable Albanian poet. His poetic profile was influenced by the work of Mayakovsky. Siliqi was born in Shkodër, the son of the Albanian poet and nationalist figure Risto Siliqi. He was an active participant of the Albanian resistance during World War II, was arrested and interned in the Nazi concentration camp in Pristina, today's Kosovo. Siliqi was the librettist of the first Albanian opera, ''Mrika'', composed by Prenkë Jakova, as well as ''Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu'' (Scanderbeg) of 1969, an epic-heroic work written to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Scanderbeg, Albania's national hero, with music from Jakova as well. Prenkë Jakova
Prenk Jakova (27 June 191719 September 1969) was an Albanian composer, musician, and author of ''Mrika'' (1958), which is considered the first Albanian opera. A native of Shkodër, he studied under Martin Gjoka and Zef Kurti, and he was also an alumnus of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. A virtuoso clarinetist he worked as a music teacher for most of his life and distinguished himself as the mentor of the four most important composers of classical music from northern Albania: Çesk Zadeja, Tish Daija, Tonin Harapi, and Simon Gjoni. Jakova was the director of the music band and of the House of Culture of Shkodër. Besides ''Mrika'', Jakova also composed ''Skënderbeu'', another opera which premiered in 1968. ''Mrika'' (''Maria'') is an opera in three acts composed by Prenkë Jakova with a libretto in Albanian by Llazar Siliqi. It premiered (in a four-act version) in Shkoder, Albania in 1958 at the Migjeni Theatre. The revised three-act version (and the one used today) premiered in Tirana at the Academy of Music and Arts of Albania in December 1959. The Jordan Misja Artistic Lyceum ( sq, Liceu Artistik Jordan Misja) is an artistic school in Tirana, Albania, for youth from 6 to 18 years old.
