Gunde Svan
Gunde Anders Svan (born 12 January 1962) is a Swedish former cross-country skier and auto racing driver. During his cross-country skiing career he won a total of four gold, one silver and one bronze medals at the Winter Olympics. Svan won a total of seven golds (15 km - 1989; 30 km and 4 × 10 km relay - 1985, 1991; 50 km - 1985, 1989; and 4 × 10 km relay - 1987), three silvers (15 km, 50 km, 4 × 10 km relay (all 1991)), and one bronze (4 × 10 km relay - 1985) at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Svan also won the 15 km once (1983) and the 50 km twice (1986, 1990) at the Holmenkollen ski festival. In 1984, he earned the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal, and in 1985, he earned the Holmenkollen medal (shared with Anette Bøe and Per Bergerud). He is a board member of the International Ski Federation. 1985–86 FIS Cross-Country World Cup
The 1985–86 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 5th official World Cup season in cross-country skiing for men and ladies. The World Cup began in Labrador City, Canada, on 7 December 1985 and finished in Oslo, Norway, on 15 March 1986. Gunde Svan of Sweden won the overall men's cup, and Marjo Matikainen of Finland won the women's. Before the season began, after several years of disagreements between athletes and federations concerning what styles of skiing should be allowed, it was decided that cross-country skiing should have two disciplines: classical and freestyle. The initiative to this idea was made by the Swedish skier Thomas Wassberg. Holmenkollen National Arena ( no, Holmenkollen nasjonalanlegg) is a Nordic skiing, ski jumping and biathlon venue located at Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway. It consists of the large ski jumping hill Holmenkollbakken, the normal hill Midtstubakken and a stadium for cross-country skiing and a shooting range for biathlon. Anna-Lena Fritzon (born 7 March 1965) is a Swedish former cross-country skier who competed from 1985 to 1994. Her best career finish at the Winter Olympics was sixth twice in the 4 × 5 km relay (1988, 1994) while her best individual finish was ninth in the 20 km event at Calgary in 1988. Fritzon's best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was tenth in the 30 km event at Falun in 1993. Her best World Cup finish was second in a 20 km event in Italy in 1988. Fritzon, born in 1965 in Falun, was also a successful triathlete with a second place in European World Championship held in 1986 in Immenstadt, West Germany. Marie Risby (born 20 April 1955) is a Swedish cross-country skier who competed during the 1970s and 80's. She participated in three Winter Olympics (1976, 1980 and 1984) and did her best results at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, when she finished fourth in the 5 km, fifth in the 20 km, fifth in the 4 × 5 km relay, and sixth in the 10 km events.
