Marie-François Goron
Marie-François Goron (2 March 1847, in Rennes-4 February 1933, in Sannois), was a Law enforcement in France, French police official and best-selling author. A number of developments in the French police force took place under his direction. After joining the army between 1865-1875, he then rapidly rose through the ranks of the French police, becoming Chief of the Sûreté de Paris, Sûreté, the French criminal spy police, in 1887. Goron held this position for seven years, until 1894. While at the head of the Sûreté and as the first occupant of Direction régionale de la police judiciaire de la préfecture de police de Paris, 36, quai des Orfèvres, Goron was a key figure in a series of judicial and political affairs. For instance, he was responsible for the arrest of Clément Duval and Vittorio Pini, considered foundational figures of illegalism. 99th Infantry Regiment (France)
The 99th Infantry Regiment (French - ''99e régiment d'infanterie'' or ''99e RI'') was an infantry regiment of the French Army. It was formed in 1791 by renaming the Royal Deux-Ponts Regiment and fought in the French Revolutionary Wars before being merged into another unit in 1803. The second incarnation of the 99th Infantry Regiment was originally formed in 1796 as the 24th Light Demi-Brigade, was renamed the 44th Light Infantry Regiment and finally (in 1855) the 99th Infantry Regiment. It disbanded in 1997. It kept the traditions of the 44th Light Infantry Regiment as well as reviving the traditions and battle honours of the previous 99th Infantry Regiment.
