Marianum
The ''Marianum'' is a pontifical institute in Rome, Italy founded by Gabriel Roschini for the study of Mariology. History Background The name ''Marianum'' itself goes back to Pope Boniface IX, who in 1398 granted the Servites the right to confer theological degrees. This college in Rome was closed in 1870 by the victorious Italian government, which took over the Papal States, Rome and many papal institutions. It opened again under the name ''Sant' Alessio Falconieri'' in 1895. Present institute In 1939, Servite priest Gabriel Roschini founded the journal ''Marianum'' and directed it for thirty years. In 1950, he also founded the Marianum Theological Faculty, which, on December 8, 1955, became a pontifical faculty by decree ''Coelesti Honorandae Reginae'' of the Sacred Congregation of Seminaries and Universities under the authority of Pope Pius XII. Roman Catholic Mariology
Catholic Mariology is Mariology (the systematic study of the person of Mary, mother of Jesus, and of her place in the Economy of Salvation) in Catholic theology. According to the Immaculate Conception taught by the Catholic Church, she was conceived and born without sin, hence Mary is seen as having a singular dignity above the saints, receiving a higher level of veneration than all angelic spirits and blessed souls in heaven. Gabriel Roschini
Gabriel Maria Roschini, OSM (December 19, 1900 – September 12, 1977), was a Roman Catholic Italian priest and professor of Mariology, who published over 900 titles on the subject. During the pontificate of Pope Pius XII, he worked closely with the Vatican on Marian publications. In light of the encyclopedic accuracy of his work, Roschini is considered one of the top two Mariologists of the 20th century. Ngô Đình Lệ Quyên (26 July 1959 – 16 April 2012), was a South Vietnamese-born Italian lawyer who served as Commissioner of Immigration for the city of Rome. Maria Valtorta
Maria Valtorta (14 March 1897 – 12 October 1961) was a Roman Catholic Italian writer and poet. She was a Franciscan tertiary and a lay member of the Servants of Mary who reported reputed personal conversations with, and dictations from, Jesus Christ. In her youth, Valtorta travelled around Italy due to her father's military career. Her father eventually settled in Viareggio. In 1920, aged 23, while she was walking on a street with her mother, a delinquent youth struck her in the back with an iron bar for no apparent reason. In 1934, the injury confined her to bed for the remaining 28 years of her life.
