Maria Areosa (born 14 September, 1984) is a professional Portuguese triathlete, Portuguese duathlon chamption of the year 2010, and permanent member of the nation team. In the official Portuguese ranking of the year 2010, Areosa is at the 14th position. In 2010, Areosa also took part in the Portuguese triathlon of the '' XTERRA European Tour'', placing 3rd at Figueira da Foz. In Portugal, Maria Areosa represents the Clube Olímpico de Oeiras. Duathlon is an athletic event that consists of a running leg, followed by a cycling leg and then another running leg in a format similar to triathlons. XTERRA Triathlon
XTERRA is a series of cross triathlon races, i.e. three-sport races which include swimming, mountain biking, and trail running. The XTERRA Global Tour is owned and produced by XTERRA Sports Limited. The XTERRA race series is the best-known series of cross triathlons, and is considered by most to be the ''de facto'' world championship of the sport. Quarteira ( or ) is a Portuguese civil parish, in the municipality (''concelho'') of Loulé in the Algarve.Detail Regional Map, Algarve-Southern Portugal, The population in 2011 was 21,798, in an area of 38.16 km².
