Marguerite-Bourgeoys is a provincial electoral district in the Montreal region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It comprises the LaSalle borough of the city of Montreal. It was created for the 1966 election from parts of Jacques-Cartier and Montréal–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it gained some territory from Marquette electoral district. It was named after Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys. Montreal is one of the administrative regions of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is also a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and a census division (CD), for both of which its geographical code is 66. Prior to the merger of the municipalities in ''Region 06'' in 2002, the administrative region was co-extensive with the Montreal Urban Community. Liza Frulla
Liza Frulla (born March 30, 1949, in Montreal, Quebec), formerly known as Liza Frulla-Hébert, is a former Canadian politician. She was a Liberal Member of the National Assembly of Quebec from 1989 to 1998, a Liberal Member of Parliament from 2002 to 2006, and a member of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Paul Martin. Background All four of Frulla's grandparents were born in Italy and like many Italian Quebeckers, her family was strongly federalist and Quebec Liberal oriented. In college she says she was not politically involved as she voted "yes" in the 1980 referendum, believing it was only fair to give René Lévesque's government a mandate to negotiate, but when the results were strongly "no", she reverted to federalism. She then later worked as a marketer for Labatt Breweries when she regularly met with government officials and eventually joined the Quebec Liberals under Robert Bourassa. La Prairie is a provincial electoral district in Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably consists of the city of La Prairie and three other smaller cities. Prior to 1988, it was spelled as one word: Laprairie. It was originally created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its final election was in 1919. It disappeared in the 1923 election and its successor electoral district was Napierville-Laprairie. Châteauguay is a provincial riding (electoral district) in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the city of Châteauguay. It was originally created in 1867 (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). Its final election was in 1936. It disappeared in the 1939 and its successor electoral district was Châteauguay-Laprairie. However, Châteauguay-Laprairie only existed for one election. Marie-Claire Kirkland
Marie-Claire Kirkland-Casgrain, (September 8, 1924 – March 24, 2016) was a Quebec lawyer, judge and politician. She was the first woman elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec, the first woman appointed a Cabinet minister in Quebec, the first woman appointed acting premier, and the first woman judge to serve in the Quebec Provincial Court. Life Born in Palmer, Massachusetts, the daughter of Charles-Aimé Kirkland (who was studying at Harvard), a Quebec MLA from 1939 to 1961, and Rose Demers, she received a Bachelor of Arts in 1947 and a Bachelor of Civil Law in 1950 from McGill University. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1952 and was made a Queen's Counsel in 1969. From 1952 to 1961, she practiced law in Montreal. The Regroupement des militants syndicaux or RMS (in English: ''Trade-Union Militants Grouping'') was a political organization founded in 1974 by members of the Groupe socialiste des travailleurs du Québec involved in the three main trade-unions in Quebec (FTQ, CSN and CEQ) to rally trade unionists into political action. On the political scene, the RMS was deeply involved in the creation of a left-of-centre political party in Montreal, the Rassemblement des citoyens de Montréal (Montreal Citizens Movement) in 1974. The New Democratic Party of Quebec (french: Nouveau Parti démocratique du Québec; NPDQ) is a federalist and social-democratic provincial political party in Quebec, Canada. Fernand Lalonde
Fernand Lalonde (born August 27, 1932) is a Canadian lawyer and politician. Lalonde represented the riding of Marguerite-Bourgeoys in the National Assembly of Quebec from 1973 to 1984. Born in Mont-Laurier, Quebec, Lalonde is the son of Maurice Lalonde and Éléonore Côté. He was educated at the Séminaire de Mont-Laurier, the Séminaire de Saint-Jean-d'Iberville, the Collège Sainte-Marie de Montréal, the Université de Montréal and McGill University.
