Marginea (german: Mardzina) is a commune located in Suceava County, Bukovina, northeastern Romania. It is composed of a single village, more specifically Marginea. Orest Onofrei
Orest Onofrei (born 17 March 1957 in Marginea, Suceava County, Romania) is a Romanian veterinarian and politician. A member of the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), he represented Suceava County in the Chamber of Deputies from December 2004 to February 2005, and has been a Senator for the same county since December 2008. Political career In January 2005, he was named prefect of Suceava County. In April 2008, he was dismissed from his job of prefect and named subprefect of the same county. Meanwhile, in November 2004 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as a member of the National Liberal Party (PNL), serving until his resignation early the following year. Suceava County () is a county ('' ro, județ'') of Romania. Most of its territory lies in the southern part of the historical region of Bukovina, while the remainder forms part of Western Moldavia proper. 2020 Romanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Romania on 27 September 2020. Initially planned for June 2020, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led the Government of Romania to postpone the elections to a date no later than 31 December 2020, and extending all the terms of the local offices due to expire on 5 June 2020. The aforementioned decision was deemed unconstitutional, and, in the end, a law was passed that extended the terms of the local officials up to 30 November 2020, and allowed the elections to be called by the Parliament, rather than by the Government, no later than that day. The National Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Național Liberal, PNL) is a liberal-conservative political party in Romania (and the second largest overall political party in the country as of 2022). The Alliance for the Union of Romanians ( ro, Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor, AUR) is a right-wing populist and nationalist political party currently active in Romania and Moldova. It was founded on 19 September 2019. This was done with the intention of participating in the 2020 Romanian local and legislative elections. Currently, the party president is George Simion.
