Margaret, Manitoba
Margaret is an unincorporated place in the Rural Municipality of Prairie Lakes (previously Rural Municipality of Riverside) in southwestern Manitoba. It is located on Manitoba Highway 346, north of Manitoba Highway 23, about midway between Dunrea, to its east, and Minto, to its west. Attractions Margaret is home to the Margaret school monument, a cairn that commemorates all the schools that once operated in the vicinity. National Topographic System
The National Topographic System or NTS is the system used by Natural Resources Canada for providing general purpose topographic maps of the country. NTS maps are available in a variety of scales, the standard being 1:50,000 and 1:250,000 scales. The maps provide details on landforms and terrain, lakes and rivers, forested areas, administrative zones, populated areas, roads and railways, as well as other man-made features. A grain elevator is a facility designed to stockpile or store grain. In the grain trade, the term "grain elevator" also describes a tower containing a bucket elevator or a pneumatic conveyor, which scoops up grain from a lower level and deposits it in a silo or other storage facility. Manitoba Pool Elevators
Manitoba Pool Elevators was a grain trade company founded in 1924. It became a subsidiary of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool until November 1932, when the Pool declared bankruptcy. In 1998 Alberta Wheat Pool and Manitoba Pool Elevators merged to form Agricore Cooperative Limited. In 2001, United Grain Growers combined its business operations with Agricore Cooperative Ltd. and carried on business as Agricore United, a publicly traded company, no longer a farmer-owned cooperative. In 2007, Agricore United was taken over by the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, another publicly traded company. The merged corporation was renamed Viterra. Minto is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district located in the Municipality of Grassland, Manitoba, Canada. A railway point for the Canadian National railway and post office was located in Minto. It was named in 1899 for Sir Gilbert Elliot-Murray-Kynynmound, 4th Earl of Minto.
