Marengo Trial
The Marengo trial or Marengo case () is a trial of leading members of the Mocro Maffia, a Dutch-Moroccan criminal organisation. Seventeen suspects are standing trial for involvement in a number of murders and attempted murders. The name of the trial was picked at random by a computer and relates to a fabric named marengo. Suspects The principal suspect in the trial is Ridouan Taghi, considered to be the sponsor of the organisation. Saïd Razzouki, the alleged right-hand man of Taghi, was arrested in Medellín, Colombia on 7 February 2020, but had not been extradited to the Netherlands at the start of the trial. He was extradited in December 2021. Accusations The charges in these cases include a number of murders and attempted murders from 2015 to 2017: * The murder of Ronald Bakker (59) on 9 September 2015. ''RTL Boulevard'' is a daily television programme on the Dutch TV channel RTL 4. It was set up as a television equivalent of a tabloid, with a lot of airy subjects, news items and gossip about the stars, fashion and criminality. Murder Of Derk Wiersum
In the morning of 18 September 2019, Dutch people, Dutch lawyer Derk Wiersum was shot and killed near his home in Amsterdam. At the time of his death, Wiersum was a lawyer for Turn state's evidence, state witness Nabil B. in the Marengo case against the so-called 'Mocro Maffia' led by Ridouan Taghi. The murder caused a great shock in the world of lawyers; it was called "an attack on the rule of law". Background Derk Wiersum started as lawyer of Nabil B. in the Marengo process against the Mocro Maffia allegedly led by Ridouan Taghi in 2017. Martin Kok
Martin Kok (25 June 1967 – 8 December 2016) was a Dutch criminal turned blogger. Early life He grew up in Volendam and as a teenager sold eels along with his father and brother, dressed in traditional Volendammer garb of red shirt, baggy black pants, and clogs. He didn't enjoy it, but started selling eels in bars frequented by criminals and then moved into cocaine dealing. He was nicknamed "the Stutterer". Criminal career In 1988 he shot at and missed a former schoolmate who had cut into his business. Several months later he fought with a rival, hitting him with a barstool. The rival died of his injuries the following day and Kok was sentenced to five years in prison.
