Marco Durante (golfer)
Marco Durante (born 24 October 1962) is an Italian golfer. Biography Durante was born in Sanremo. He was introduced to golf in 1969 under the guidance of Franco Zanini in Garlenda, Italy. He won his first Italian title in the Second Category National Championship in 1976. In 1977 he made his debut in the Amateur National Team at the Junior European Championship in Oslo, and he was part of the team until the end of 1987, taking part to 9 European Championships, to the Pinehurst World Championship (USA, 1980), to the University World Championship in Is Molas (ITA), where his team won the tournament and he was placed 4th individually. In his amateur career the most important achievement was the first place at the 1979 Junior Orange Bowl in Miami, the first non-American player to win the title. 1989 Challenge Tour
The 1989 Challenge Tour was a series of golf tournaments known as the Challenge Tour, the official development tour run by the PGA European Tour. The tour was started as the Satellite Tour with its first Order of Merit rankings in 1989 and was officially named the Challenge Tour ready for the start of the 1990 season. Dunhill Cup
The Alfred Dunhill Cup was a team golf tournament which ran from 1985 to 2000, sponsored by Alfred Dunhill Ltd. It was for three-man teams of professional golfers, one team representing each country, and was promoted as the "World Team Championship". It was a "special approved event" on the European Tour, which means that it was supported by the Tour, but the prize money did not count towards the Tour's Order of Merit. The host course was the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland. The stature of the members of the American team was variable as the Dunhill Cup clashed with a PGA Tour event, though the fact that it was played at "The Home of Golf" helped to attract some star names. The St Andrews Trophy is a biennial men's team golf tournament contested between teams of amateur golfers representing Great Britain & Ireland and the Continent of Europe. It takes its name from St Andrews in Scotland.
