Marcin Oleś
Marcin Oleś (born 4 January 1973) is a jazz and free improvisation bass player, composer and record producer. He is the twin brother of Bartłomiej Oleś. Biography Oles was born on 4 January 1973 in Sosnowiec, Poland. Since his first recording in 2000 he continuously (with his brother Bartłomiej) cooperated and performed with musicians such as Theo Jörgensmann, David Murray, William Parker, Herb Robertson, Ken Vandermark, Hamid Drake, Chris Speed, Erik Friedlander a.o. In 2003 Marcin Oles became a founding member of the Trio ''Oles Jörgensmann Oles'' with his brother Bartłomiej and German clarinet-player Theo Jörgensmann. The last album of this Trio, titled ''Directions'' was voted by internet jazz magazine "Diapazon" from Poland as "The Best Recording Of The Year 2005". Erik Friedlander
Erik Friedlander is an American cellist and composer based in New York City. A veteran of New York City's experimental downtown scene, Friedlander has worked in many contexts, but is perhaps best known for his frequent collaborations with saxophonist John Zorn. Friedlander grew up in a home filled with art and music: his father is photographer Lee Friedlander, noted for the cover photographs he took for Atlantic Records. He is of Jewish descent from his father and of Finnish descent through his paternal grandmother. His father's fondness for R&B and jazz helped shape Friedlander's taste in music. He graduated from Columbia University in 1982. Friedlander started playing guitar at age six and added cello two years later. Apart from his work with Zorn, Friedlander has worked with Laurie Anderson, Courtney Love and Alanis Morissette, and is a member of the jazz/fusion quartet Topaz. David Murray (saxophonist)
David Keith Murray (born February 19, 1955) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer who performs mostly on tenor and bass clarinet. He has recorded prolifically for many record labels since the mid-1970s. He lives in New York City. Biography Murray was born in Oakland, California, United States. He attended Pomona College for two years as a member of the class of 1977, ultimately receiving an honorary degree in 2012. He was initially influenced by free jazz musicians such as Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman and Archie Shepp. He gradually evolved a more diverse style in his playing and compositions. Murray set himself apart from most tenor players of his generation by not taking John Coltrane as his model, choosing instead to incorporate elements of mainstream players Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster and Paul Gonsalves into his mature style. Simon Nabatov
Simon Nabatov (born 11 January 1959) is a Russian-American jazz pianist. Early life Nabatov was born in Moscow on 11 January 1959. His parents were Leon, a professional pianist and choir conductor who was a native of Belarus, and Regina. Nabatov began playing the piano at the age of three and his first composition was at six. He attended a Duke Ellington concert in Moscow in 1971 and his determination to become a jazz musician was reinforced a year later at a Thad Jones–Mel Lewis Orchestra performance. By the age of 17 he was playing bebop with other musicians in Moscow. His formal education in music was at the Central School of Music and then the Moscow Conservatory. Nabatov and his parents were permitted to leave the Soviet Union in 1979. This was ostensibly to join family members in Israel, but the Nabatovs instead flew to Italy and applied for visas to enter the United States. Andrzej Przybielski
Andrzej Grzegorz Przybielski (August 9, 1944 – February 9, 2011) was a Polish jazz trumpeter associated with the avant-garde jazz and free jazz scenes. Career Having graduated from the Technic School of Bydgoszcz, Andrzej Przybielski began with traditional jazz, playing with Bogdan Ciesielski and Jacek Bednarek within the "Traditional Jazz group". Until the mid-1960s he played cornet and trumpet, specializing in blues and Dixieland music, his inspiration coming from Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis. In 1968, along with the Gdansk Trio he won the ''Jazz nad Odrą'' (Jazz aboard the Oder). In 1969, along with the Modern Music Foundation, he took part in the Jazz Jamboree festival.
