Marc Liegghio
Marc Liegghio (born February 13, 1997) is a professional Canadian football placekicker and punter for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Amateur career Liegghio played U Sports football for the Western Mustangs from 2015 to 2019. He sat out the 2015 season due to injury, but became the team's placekicker and punter in 2016 where he was named an OUA Second Team All-Star. In 2017, Liegghio was named a U Sports Second-team All-Canadian as a placekicker after connecting on 29 of 33 field goal attempts and all but one of his point-after-touchdown converts. He finished that season as a Vanier Cup champion when the Mustangs completed an undefeated season and defeated the Laval Rouge et Or in the 53rd Vanier Cup game. Woodbridge is a very large suburban community in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada, along the city's border with Toronto. Western Mustangs
The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams. Their mascot is a Mustang named J.W. and the school colours are purple and white. The university's varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference and the national U Sports organization. Western University offers 21 varsity sports for men and 19 for women which compete in the OUA conference. Calgary Stampeders
The Calgary Stampeders are a professional Canadian football team based in Calgary, Alberta. The Stampeders compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The club plays its home games at McMahon Stadium and are the third-oldest active franchise in the CFL. Tyler Crapigna
Tyler Crapigna (born August 4, 1992) is a former professional Canadian football placekicker and is currently the kicker coach for the Carleton Ravens of U Sports. He played CIS football for the McMaster Marauders from 2010 to 2014 and kicked the game-winning field goal in double overtime of the 47th Vanier Cup. Professional career Calgary Stampeders Crapigna was drafted in the fifth round, 40th overall, in the 2014 CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders. Following training camp, he returned for a fifth season with McMaster. He re-signed with the Stampeders on February 18, 2015, but spent most of the 2015 season on the team's practice roster. 2020 U Sports Football Season
The 2020 U Sports football season was scheduled to feature Canadian football competition under the auspices of U Sports as the highest level of competition for amateur football in Canada in 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, U Sports cancelled the national championships and the Atlantic University Sport, Canada West, and Ontario University Athletics conferences announced the complete cancellation of their schedules on June 8. The Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec conference waited to make a decision until September 14, when they also announced that all university sports would be cancelled for the remainder of 2020. 2020 CFL Season
The 2020 CFL season would have been the 67th season of modern-day Canadian football. Officially, it would have been the 63rd season of the Canadian Football League. It was originally scheduled to begin on June 11; on April 7, the start of the season was delayed to begin no sooner than July due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The CFL planned to obtain financial assistance from the federal government. In May, the CFL delayed the season to no sooner than September, and announced that the Grey Cup was to be played as a home advantage game rather than as a neutral site game in Regina, Saskatchewan, as originally planned. 2020 CFL Draft
The 2020 CFL Draft took place on April 30, 2020 at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS.. 73 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA. This was the second year in a row that featured territorial picks after they were re-introduced in the 2019 CFL Draft. The draft was broadcast live on TSN for two hours and then subsequent coverage shifted to digital platforms on CFL.ca. Ontario University Athletics (OUA; french: Sports universitaires de l'Ontario) is a regional membership association for Canadian universities which assists in co-ordinating competition between their university level athletic programs and providing contact information, schedules, results, and releases about those programs and events to the public and the media. 2019 U Sports Football Season
The 2019 U Sports football season began on August 23, 2019 with the Concordia Stingers hosting the Montreal Carabins in Montreal, Quebec. The Atlantic University Sport conference started play the following day and the Ontario University Athletics conference began play on August 25, 2019. The Canada West teams began play during the following weekend, on August 30, 2019. All 27 U Sports football teams played eight regular season games against opponents within the same conference. The conference championships were played on November 9 and the season ended on November 23 with the 55th Vanier Cup championship at PEPS Stadium in Quebec City, Quebec. The Laval Rouge et Or football team represents Laval University in Quebec City in the sport of Canadian football in U Sports. The program began its first regular season in 1996 and has quickly become one of the most successful programs in Canadian university football history. The conversion, try (American football, also known as a point(s) after touchdown, PAT, or (depending on the number of points) extra point/2-point conversion), or convert (Canadian football) occurs immediately after a touchdown during which the scoring team is allowed to attempt to score one extra point by kicking the ball through the uprights in the manner of a field goal, or two points by bringing the ball into the end zone in the manner of a touchdown.
