Mara Maru
''Mara Maru'' is a 1952 American noir action film directed by Gordon Douglas and starring Errol Flynn, Ruth Roman and Raymond Burr . It was the last movie Flynn made for Warner Bros where he had started out in Hollywood in 1935. However he did go on to appear in a British film ''The Master of Ballantrae'' that was released by Warners, and return to make ''Too Much, Too Soon'' where he played his friend John Barrymore. Plot summary Gregory Mason (Errol Flynn) and Andy Callahan ( Richard Webb) are partners in a post-World War II salvage business in Manila. Callahan is murdered after some drunken talk about sunken treasure. Mason is suspected by Lt. Zuenon of the local police because of Callahan's public threat to kill Mason made earlier that day in a bar and his intense jealousy toward Mason over a relationship Mason had had with Callahan's wife, Stella (Ruth Roman), before the couple were married. Gordon Douglas (director)
Gordon Douglas Brickner (December 15, 1907 – September 29, 1993) was an American film director and actor, who directed many different genres of films over the course of a five-decade career in motion pictures. Early life Born Gordon Douglas Brickner in New York City, he began his career as a child actor, appearing in some films directed by Maurice Costello. He also worked at MGM as a book-keeper. Career Hal Roach and ''Our Gang'' As a teenager, Douglas got a job at the Hal Roach Studios, working in the office and appearing in bit parts in various Hal Roach films. Ivan Goff (17 April 1910 – 23 September 1999) was an Australian screenwriter, best known for his collaborations with Ben Roberts including ''White Heat'' (1949), '' Man of a Thousand Faces'' (1957), '' Legend of the Lone Ranger'' (1981), and the pilot for ''Charlie's Angels'' (1976). Philip Yordan (April 1, 1914 – March 24, 2003) was an American screenwriter of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s who produced several films. He acted as a front for blacklisted writers although his use of surrogate screenwriters predates the McCarthy era. His actual contributions to the scripts he is credited with writing is controversial and he was known to some as a credit-grabber. Nestor Paiva (June 30, 1905 – September 9, 1966) was an American actor of Portuguese descent. He is most famous for his recurring role of Teo Gonzales the innkeeper in Walt Disney's Spanish Western series ''Zorro'' and its feature film ''The Sign of Zorro'', as well as Lucas the boat captain in ''Creature from the Black Lagoon'' and its sequel ''Revenge of the Creature''.
