Mapusa (म्हापशें) is a town in North Goa, India. It is situated 13 km north of the capital Panaji. The town is the headquarters of Bardez Taluka. It is located on the main highway NH-17, linking Mumbai to Kochi. In Portuguese, the town is known as Mapuçá. History Mapusa is a small town clustered around the Mount (Alto). The name Mapusa is thought to be derived from the Konkani word for a 'measure' - 'map' and the phrase fill up - 'sa'. Joshua D'Souza
Joshua Peter De Souza (born 12 November 1988) is an Indian politician residing in Mapusa, Goa, and was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly in the by-election in 2019 as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. On 22nd July 2022 he was elected as the Deputy Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly with a majority of 24-12 votes against Siolim Congress MLA Delilah Lobo. Duler Stadium
Duler Stadium is a football stadium located in Mapusa, Goa, India. It is the former home of local I-League clubs who participated in the highest level of football in the country. Dempo SC, Salgaocar FC, and Sporting Clube de Goa use the venue for most of their home games. It also serves as home ground for other Goa Professional League clubs such as Vasco. Hanuman (; sa, हनुमान, ), also called Anjaneya (), is a Hindu god and a divine '' vanara'' companion of the god Rama. Hanuman is one of the central characters of the Hindu epic ''Ramayana''. Shripad Yesso Naik (born 4 October 1952) is an Indian politician serving as the current Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India in office 7 July 2021 (in Second Modi ministry).
