Manuel Francisco Serra (6 November 1935 – 5 August 1994), commonly known as Serra, was a Portuguese footballer who played as a defender for Benfica. Personal life Serra was born in the São Sebastião da Pedreira parish of Lisbon on 6 November 1935. He was murdered on 5 August 1994 at the age of 58, having been shot by a cousin in Agualva-Cacém. The Taça de Portugal (; "Cup of Portugal") is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Placard since the 2015–16 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions.
