Mansour Pourheidari
Mansour Pourheidari ( fa, منصور پورحیدری, 26 January 1946 – 4 November 2016) was an Iranian football player, coach and manager. He started his football career at Daraei, before joining Taj (currently known as Esteghlal) in 1965. He played ten years for Taj; between 1965 and 1975. Pourheidari returned to Daraei in 1975 to play his final career's two years at the club. He also played for Iran albeit earning three caps only. After retiring from playing football, Pourheidari started his coaching career, becoming assistant manager of Esteghlal. He was promoted to the first team manager in 1983. He was the head coach of the club for 9 years overall, managing them in 309 games. He is also the only Iranian who has won AFC Champions League as both player and coach. He was the Head Coach of Iran national football team in 1998 Asian Games where they won the first place and gold medal. He died on 4 November 2016 of cancer. Tehran
Tehran (; fa, تهران ) is the largest city in Tehran Province and the capital of Iran. Hassan Habibi (footballer)
Hassan Habibi ( fa, حسن حبیبی, born February 7, 1939) is a retired Iranian association football player and manager. Playing career Habibi was born in Kerman, but at the age of four his family moved to Tehran, where his father found a job as a clerk for the Ministry of Health. He started his football career with Shahin F.C. and was selected to play for the national team in 1958. In 1960, he joined Taj S.C. where he played for a few seasons. In 1964, he joined PAS Tehran and played there until 1971, when he retired. He was the captain of the national teams that competed at the 1964 Summer Olympic Games, and won the silver medal at the 1966 Asian Games and the gold medal at the 1968 Asian Cup. Coaching career After retiring from competitions Habibi coached PAS Tehran. In 1979, he joined the Iran national football team, which then qualified for the 1980 Summer Olympics. 1998 Asian Games
The 1998 Asian Games (), officially known as the 13th Asian Games and the XIII Asiad, was an Asian multi-sport event celebrated in Bangkok, Thailand from December 6 to 20, 1998, with 377 events in 36 sports and disciplines participated by 6,554 athletes across the continent. The football event commenced on 30 November 1998, a week earlier than the opening ceremony. Bangkok was awarded the right on September 26, 1990, defeating Taipei, Taiwan and Jakarta, Indonesia to host the Games. It was the first city to hosted the Asian Games for four times, the last three editions it hosted were in 1966, 1970 and 1978. The event was opened by Bhumibol Adulyadej, the king of Thailand at the Rajamangala Stadium. The final medal tally was led by China, followed by South Korea, Japan and the host Thailand. The men's football tournament has been a regular Asian Games sporting event since the 1951 edition, while the women's tournament began in 1990. History The first Asian Games had football tournament. Hazfi Cup
Hazfi Cup (Jām-e Hazfi; ) is the Iranian football knockout cup competition, run by the Iranian Football Federation. The Iranian football league was not held during the 1980s, hence the winner of Hazfi Cup represented Iran in the Asian Club Championship. After the revive of the league system, the champion of Iranian league qualified for Asian Club Championship and the winner of Hazfi Cup ran for Asian Cup Winners' Cup. However, the Asian Cup Winners' Cup merged with the Asian Champions Cup in 2002–03 to form the AFC Champions League and Iran had been initially given two (and later four) slots in this competitions. The IRIFF decided to award one of Iran's AFC Champions League spots to the winner of the Hazfi Cup, and since then, the winners of Hazfi Cup have always been allocated a spot in the AFC Champions League. Asian Club Championship
The AFC Champions League (abbreviated as ACL) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation, and contested by Asia's top-division football clubs. It is the most prestigious club competition in Asian football, played by the national league champions (and, for some nations, one or more runners-up) of their national associations. Introduced in 1967 as the Asian Champion Club Tournament, the competition rebranded and took on its current name in 2002 as a result of the merger between the Asian Club Championship, the Asian Cup Winners' Cup and the Asian Super Cup.
