Mansfeldt Findlay
Sir Mansfeldt de Cardonnel Findlay (7 April 1861 – 31 December 1932) was a British diplomat who had the difficult task of envoy to Norway during World War I. Career Findlay was educated at Harrow School and joined the Diplomatic Service as an Attaché in 1885. He served at Stockholm, Constantinople, Vienna, Buenos Aires and Belgrade. He was Minister Resident at Dresden and Coburg 1907–09, and Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at Sofia 1909–11 and at Christiania 1911–23, including the important period of World War I. :Christiania, which up till 1914 was an extremely pleasant post for a Minister who happened to be fond of fishing, became, on the outbreak of the War, one of intense and arduous difficulty. The problem that increasingly dominated Findlay's work was the double problem of the blockade of Germany and the passage of goods in transit to Russia. Francis Oswald Lindley
Sir Francis Oswald Lindley (12 June 1872 – 17 August 1950) was a British diplomat who was HM Consul-General in Russia in 1919, British High Commissioner in Vienna 1919–1920, Ambassador to Austria 1920–1921, Ambassador to Greece 1922–1923, Minister in Oslo 1923–1929, Ambassador to Portugal 1929–1931, and finally Ambassador to Japan 1931–1934. Sir Arthur James Herbert, (22 August 1855 – 31 August 1921) was a British diplomat who served as the first British envoy to Norway. Early life He was the second son of Hon. Augusta Charlotte Elizabeth ( Hall) Herbert and John Arthur Edward Herbert, the High Sheriff of Monmouthshire. Henry Bax-Ironside
Sir Henry George Outram Bax-Ironside, (15 November 1859 – 16 April 1929) was a British diplomat, ambassador to Venezuela, Chile, Switzerland and Bulgaria. Career Henry George Outram Bax was the only son of John Henry Bax, of Houghton-le-Spring, who had married Sarah Elizabeth Hughes, and in 1866 took the surname Bax-Ironside by royal warrant, when his son became Henry Bax-Ironside. George Buchanan (diplomat)
Sir George William Buchanan, (25 November 1854 – 20 December 1924) was a British diplomat. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, he was the youngest son of the diplomat Sir Andrew Buchanan, 1st Baronet and Frances, daughter of the Very Rev Edward Mellish by Elizabeth Leigh. Diplomatic career Buchanan entered diplomatic service in 1876 and served as Second Secretary in Tokyo, Vienna and Bern and as Secretary in Rome. By 1899, he was serving on the Venezuelan Boundary Commission and later that year was appointed chargé d'affaires at Darmstadt and Karlsruhe. In late 1901, he moved to Berlin, where he was appointed First Secretary at the British embassy. From 1903 to 1908, he was Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria, and in 1909, he was appointed as Minister to the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Sir Arthur Cuninghame Grant Duff, (23 May 1861 – 11 April 1948) was a British diplomat who was Minister to several countries. Career Arthur Cuninghame Grant Duff was the eldest son of M.E. Grant Duff (later Sir Mountstuart Grant Duff). He was educated at Clifton College and Balliol College, Oxford. He entered HM Diplomatic Service in 1865 and was posted as attaché to the embassy in Madrid.
