Adrian Maniu
Adrian Maniu (February 6, 1891 – April 20, 1968) was a Romanian poet, prose writer, playwright, essayist, and translator. Born in Bucharest, his father Grigore, a native of Lugoj, was a jurist and professor of commercial law at the University of Bucharest; his paternal grandfather was the historian Vasile Maniu. His mother Maria (''née'' Călinescu) was the descendant of an old Oltenian ''boyar'' family, with ancestors attested to the time of Matei Basarab; an artistically inclined woman, she cultivated a love of music, painting, and poetry within the family. All five children displayed marked intellectual and artistic leanings, while two devoted their careers to the arts: Adrian and his sister Rodica, a well-known painter during the interwar period. Clara Maniu
Clara Maniu (born Clara Coroianu; 10 January 1842 – 29 July 1929) was a Romanian feminist and suffragist. She was the president of the Romanian women's movement organisation ''Reuniunea Femeilor Române Sălăjene (R.F.R.S)'' from 1881 to 1897. She was born in 1842 in Nagyderzsida, Kingdom of Hungary (now Bobota, in Sălaj County, Romania). Her father, Demetriu Coroianu, was a Greek-Catholic priest, while her mother, Iuliana Pop, was the granddaughter of protopope Grigorie Pop from Craidorolț. She married Ioan Maniu in 1865, and among their five children was Iuliu Maniu. Ioan Maniu
Ioan Maniu (; 10 September 1833 – 4 November 1895) was a Transylvanian Romanian lawyer, politician and journalist. Biography Maniu was born in 1833 in Szilágybadacsony, Kingdom of Hungary, now the village of Bădăcin, in Pericei commune, Sălaj County, Romania. He studied law in Pest and Vienna. Maniu was deeply influenced by his uncle, Simion Bărnuțiu. At the age of 6, in 1839, he started to study at Șimleu Silvaniei, the courses for the Franciscan minority gymnasium, where he graduated from the elementary school and 4 lower secondary classes. He spent 8 years under the strict discipline of the monks. In this place he met the vicar Alexandru Sterca-Șuluțiu and the Romanian language teacher Andrei Liviu Pop, who would later influence his life. Iuliu Maniu
Iuliu Maniu (; 8 January 1873 – 5 February 1953) was an Austro-Hungarian-born lawyer and Romanian politician. He was a leader of the National Party of Transylvania and Banat before and after World War I, playing an important role in the Union of Transylvania with Romania. Maniu served as Prime Minister of Romania for three terms during 1928–1933, and, with Ion Mihalache, co-founded the National Peasants' Party. Arrested by the ascendant communist authorities in 1947 as a result of the Tămădău affair, he was convicted of treason in a show trial and sent to Sighet Prison, where he died six years later. Early years Maniu was born to an ethnic Romanian family in Szilágybadacsony, Austria-Hungary (now Bădăcin, Sălaj County, Romania); his parents were Ioan Maniu and Clara Maniu.
