Manitoba Provincial Road 303 (PR 303) is a short provincial road in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Route description PR 303 starts as a paved road at Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 12 south of Steinbach and runs east for approximately until it reaches the settlement of Friedensfeld. The route continues east as a gravel road for before ending at PR 302 in the Rural Municipality (RM) of La Broquerie. Until 1992, PR 303 extended west from PTH 12 through the communities of Kleefeld and Otterburne to PR 200. The former sections of PR 303 are now municipal roads known as Ridge Road, a paved two-lane highway in the RM of Hanover, and Road 34N (College Avenue in the RM of Hanover and Otterburne Road in the RM of De Salaberry), part of which is also a paved two-lane highway ( PTH 59 west to Otterburne). Friedensfeld is a settlement in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, Manitoba, Canada. It is located south of Steinbach, approximately east of the junction of Provincial Road 303 and Provincial Trunk Highway 12. Etymology Friedensfeld comes from the German ''Friedensfeld'', which translates to ''Peaceful Field'' or ''Peaceful Place''. History The first settlers in the area were German Lutherans from Ukraine, who began to arrive in the area in 1891-92. In 1903, the first Lutheran church, St. Paul's Church was completed and in 1926, a second, St. John's Church, was established. In 1911, Friedensfeld School was established, with enrolment reaching as high as 60 students. It closed in 1966, with the province-wide school consolidation,despite attempts by the community to save it. The Rural Municipality of Hanover is a rural municipality (RM) in southeastern Manitoba, Canada, located southeast of Winnipeg in Division No. 2. It is Manitoba's most populous rural municipality and fourth-most populous municipality overall (behind the cities of Winnipeg, Brandon, and Steinbach) as of the 2021 census. History The area of Hanover was part of the traditional lands of the Ojibway-speaking natives. La Broquerie (french: Municipalité rurale de La Broquerie) is a rural municipality in the province of Manitoba in Western Canada, located in the southeastern part of the province, just south and east of the city of Steinbach. The municipality consists of 6 townships. La Broquerie is a fast-growing community consisting of a wide range of cultural backgrounds including English, French and Mennonite. Kleefeld (; ; german: clover field, Plautdietsch: Kleefelt ) is a local urban district located in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, Manitoba, Canada. It was settled in 1874, the first Mennonite settlement in Western Canada, and was originally called ''Gruenfeld'' (german: Grünfeld, 'green field'). History The area now known as Kleefeld was originally lands of the nomadic Ojibway-speaking Anishinabe people. On 3 August 1871, the Anishinabe people signed Treaty 1 and moved onto reserves such as the Brokenhead Indian Reserve and Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation Reserve. It runs from the Perimeter Highway (PTH 100) at Winnipeg to the border town of Emerson, ending at Manitoba Highway (PTH) 75 at Emerson, near the Canada–United States border. Route description PR 200 begins as a continuation of Winnipeg Route 52 (St. Mary's Road) immediately south of the Perimeter Highway in Winnipeg and runs southward parallel to the flood plain of the meandering Red River.
