Manitoba Minister Of Consumer And Corporate Affairs
The Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs was a cabinet position in the government of Manitoba, Canada. The position initially emerged from the offices of Provincial Secretary and Minister of Public Works in the late 1960s. John Carroll and Rene Toupin, who held both of the aforementioned positions in different ministries, were also recognized as Ministers of Consumer and Corporate Affairs. As with many other government departments in Manitoba, its specific ministerial designation was changed several times. Ben Hanuschak was appointed to succeed Toupin in 1970, and was given the title of Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs and Internal Services. This title was retained until 1978, when the new minister Warner Jorgenson was designated as the Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs. Ian Turnbull (politician)
Ian Denys Turnbull (born July 1, 1935 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1969 to 1977, and a member of Edward Schreyer's cabinet from 1973 to 1977. The son of Matthew Turnbull, he received his B.A. and M.A from the University of Manitoba. In 1961, Turnbull married Aleda Winnifred Woodworth. In his career, he did research at the University of Manitoba, taught high school, and with his wife developed a consulting partnership with contracts mostly in Asia in addition to his involvement in politics. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the provincial election of 1969, defeating Progressive Conservative incumbent Obie Baizley who was then Minister of Labour by 623 votes in the central Winnipeg riding of Osborne. Ron Lemieux
Ron Lemieux, (born August 15, 1950) is a Canadian politician, who has been an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba since 1999, and a former professional ice hockey player. Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Lemieux was an ice hockey defenceman and was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins 110th overall in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft. Lemieux started with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, helping the Kings to the Manitoba championship in 1971-72. He played for the Green Bay Bobcats in the United States Hockey League for the 1974-75 season (scoring seven goals and eighteen assists), but was never called up to the NHL. He later coached girls' hockey in Lorette, Manitoba and St. Adolphe. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1990 to 1999, and was briefly a cabinet minister in the government of Gary Filmon. James Collus McCrae (born September 19, 1948) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1986 to 1999, in the Progressive Conservative Party caucus. Roland Penner (July 30, 1924 – May 31, 2018) was a political activist and lawyer who became a cabinet minister in the Manitoba provincial government and dean of law at the University of Manitoba.
