Manicktalla Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja
The Manicktala Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja is a Durga Puja celebration in Kolkata, India. It was founded in 1943 by Late Sri Lakhi Chand Jayaswal as a small celebration in a shop and has grown into one of Kolkata's largest & biggest Durga Puja celebrations, attended by celebrities, industrialists, politicians and foreign diplomats. The Durga Puja is held near the intersection of Vivekananda Road and Amherst Street. Environmentalism is a common theme of the Manicktalla Chaltabagan Lohapatty Durga Puja, which used a windmill and solar panels to power the lighting. The committee organizing the Durga Puja is headed by President Late Lakhi Chand Jaiswal and Chairman Sandeep Bhutoria. Durga Puja ( bn, দুর্গা পূজা), also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival originating in the Indian subcontinent which reveres and pays homage to the Hindu goddess Durga and is also celebrated because of Durga's victory over Mahishasur. Vivekananda Road is a major east–west thoroughfare in the Indian city of Kolkata and connects Maniktala with Jorasanko. West of Maniktala Police Station, Maniktala Main Road becomes Vivekananda Road. Amherst Street (Kolkata)
Amherst Street is a north–south street in Central Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The street was named after William Amherst, 1st Earl Amherst. It has been renamed as Raja Rammohan Roy Sarani after Raja Rammohan Roy, one of the most famous social-reformers of India.
