Mandira Roy is an Indian politician from the state of Assam. She is a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly, having won a by-election in 2013 for Algapur. Education and personal life Roy has an H.S.L.C. from Indre Kumari Girls Higher Secondary School. Roy is married to Gautam Roy, the son of Santosh Kumar Roy who was a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Katlicherra. Her husband was also a former member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Katlicherra and became a minister. They had 2 children, Rahul and Sutanuka. Her son Rahul became a member of Assam Legislative Assembly for Algapur in 2006 and unsuccessfully sought reelection in 2011 and 2016. United Progressive Alliance
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is a centre-left political alliance of predominantly left-leaning political parties in India. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. Tarun Gogoi
Tarun Gogoi (11 October 1936 – 23 November 2020) was an Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Assam from 2001 to 2016. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and led the party to a record three consecutive electoral victories and was the longest serving chief minister of the state. During his tenure as the chief minister, he is credited with ending militant insurgency and mitigating violence in addition to improving the state's fiscal condition.
