Manal is the first album of Argentine blues rock band of the same name, released by Mandioca in 1970. This was the only album of the band issued by Mandioca, the independent label created by producer Jorge Álvarez. Their second LP ''El león'' was put out by RCA Records. Blues rock is a fusion music genre that combines elements of blues and rock music. It is mostly an electric ensemble-style music with instrumentation similar to electric blues and rock (electric guitar, electric bass guitar, and drums, sometimes with keyboards and harmonica). Jorge Álvarez (producer)
Jorge Álvarez (1932 – July 5, 2015) was an Argentine publisher and record producer, considered one of the most important promoters of Argentine culture in the 1960s and 1970s, first in the world of literature and later in the world of music. In 1963, he founded the publishing house Editorial Jorge Álvarez and later Ediciones de la Flor, from which he released the work of writers like Rodolfo Walsh, Ricardo Piglia, Manuel Puig, Joaquín Lavado, David Viñas, Marta Lynch, Leopoldo Torre Nilsson and Juan José Saer, as well as the ''Mafalda'' comic strip by cartoonist Quino. Between 1963 and 1968, he published around three hundred books that marked "a milestone in Argentine and Latin American literature." "Avellaneda Blues" is a song by the Argentine blues rock band Manal. It is the fifth song of their 1970 self-titled album. It is an original blues song sung in Spanish. The work evokes images of a melancholic dawn in Avellaneda, a port and industrial suburb of Buenos Aires. Composition The composition began when Claudio Gabis and Luis Gambolini were walking along the tracks of Avellaneda and Gerli. Inspired by the walk, Gabis composed a harmonic sequence and an initial draft of the lyrics. Argentine rock (known locally as ''rock nacional'' , "national rock" in the sense of "local", "not international") is rock music composed or performed by Argentine bands or artists mostly in Spanish. Argentine rock began by recycling hits of English-language rock & roll. However a rising trend of composing new songs mostly in Spanish can be traced at late 1960s, when several garage groups and aspiring musicians began composing songs and lyrics that related to local social and musical topics. ''Almendra'' (; Spanish for "almond") is the self-titled debut studio album by Argentine rock band Almendra (band), Almendra which was released in 1969 on Vik, a subsidiary of RCA Victor. To distinguish it from the band's next release, ''Almendra II'', it is also known as ''Almendra I''. The album represented the first full-length musical endeavour of nineteen-year-old Luis Alberto Spinetta, having formed the band in the mid 1960s along with Emilio del Guercio, Edelmiro Molinari and Rodolfo García. The famous artwork, showing a crying man with a toy arrow stuck on his head, was designed by Spinetta to embody the different lyrical themes of the album. ''La Biblia'' (; Spanish for "The Bible") is the second studio album by the Argentine band Vox Dei, released as a double album on March 15, 1971 by Disc Jockey Records. Considered a milestone of nascent Argentine rock, as well as one of the first rock operas and concept albums of ''rock en español'', ''La Biblia'' centers on the Bible's narrative, starting from Genesis and concluding with the Apocalypse.
