Mamadama Bangoura (born November 10, 1993) is a Guinean judoka. Career She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the Judo at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's 63 kg, women's 63 kg event, in which she was eliminated by Estefania García in the first round. She was the flag bearer for Guinea at the 2016 Summer Olympics Parade of Nations, Parade of Nations. Mamadama Bangoura did not return to Guinea after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, having disappeared after leaving a message saying she wanted to "try her luck" abroad. The women's 63 kg competition in judo at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held on 9 August at the Carioca Arena 2. The gold and silver medals were determined by a single-elimination tournament, with the winner of the final taking gold and the loser receiving silver. Judo events awarded two bronze medals. Quarterfinal losers competed in a repechage match for the right to face a semifinal loser for a bronze medal (that is, the judokas defeated in quarterfinals A and B competed against each other, with the winner of that match facing the semifinal loser from the other half of the bracket). The medals were presented by Alex Gilady, IOC member from Israel, and the gifts were presented by Mr. Habib Sissoko, member of the International Judo Federation Executive Committee. Estefania Priscila García Mendoza (born 13 May 1988, Portoviejo) is an Ecuadorian judoka. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she competed in the Women's 63 kg, but was defeated in the second round. She competed in the women's 63 kg division at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She defeated Mamadama Bangoura of Guinea in the first round and was then defeated by Kathrin Unterwurzacher of Austria in the next round. During the Parade of Nations within the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics opening ceremony, athletes and officials from each participating team marched in the Maracanã Stadium preceded by their flag and placard bearer. Each flag bearer had been chosen either by the team's National Olympic Committee or by the athletes themselves. Parade order Greece entered first, as the nation of the ancient and first modern Olympic Games. The host nation Brazil marched last. Other teams entered in alphabetical order in the language of the host country (Portuguese), according with tradition and IOC guidelines.
