Maluti FET College
Maluti TVET College is a South African football club based in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State that plays in the ABC Motsepe League. The team represents the Maluti TVET College which has a number of campuses around the Free State, including Bethlehem, Bonamelo, Harrismith, Itemoheleng, Kwetlisong and Sefikeng. History The team was founded in 2008 after the purchase of Vodacom League franchise Mathata Take Me Cool. Maluti caused one of the biggest shocks in South African cup football when they defeated Premier Soccer League team Orlando Pirates 4–1 in the 2012–13 Nedbank Cup first round. Maluti won the 2012–13 SAFA Second Division Free State League and their national play-off group to win promotion to the National First Division. They were relegated in the 2014–15 season. Vodacom League
The ABC Motsepe League, previously known as the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the current Second Division and the overall third tier of South African football. The competition is regulated by SAFA, and until 2012 had been sponsored by mobile telecommunications company Vodacom. It features 144 teams in total, divided into 9 divisions, borders decided by the 9 geo-political provinces of South Africa: Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West. Each provincial division contains 16 teams. The winner of each provincial division qualifies for the annual promotional playoffs, where the winners of two streams are promoted to the National First Division. The National First Division (NFD), officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African club association football, football after the South African Premier Division. Both the NFD and South African Premier Division are organised by the Premier Soccer League. Structure and rules Seasons 2007–2011 The restructured NFD was divided into two streams, one inland and another coastal – each of which consisted of 8 teams. The winners of the two streams played against each other in a 'final' at the end of the season – the winner of which was promoted to the PSL. 2012–13 Nedbank Cup
Nedbank Cup is a South African club football (soccer) tournament. The knockout tournament, based on the English FA Cup format, was one of a weak opponent facing a stronger one. The competition was sponsored by ABSA until 2007, after which Nedbank took over sponsorship. The winner of the 2012–13 Nedbank Cup will qualify for the 2014 CAF Confederation Cup. Format The 16 Premier Soccer League clubs, 8 National First Division teams, as well as 8 teams from the amateur ranks compete for the prize money of R6 million. The winner also qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup. The preliminary round features all 16 National First Division teams and will be reduced to eight when the teams play on 12 December 2012.
