Malkhaz Cheishvili
Malkhaz Cheishvili ( ka, მალხაზ ჭეიშვილი) (born Tbilisi, 18 October 1959) is a Georgian rugby union coach. He was the coach of Georgia at the 2007 Rugby World Cup finals. He managed to lose by less than a try to Ireland (10-14) and achieved the first win ever of his country at the Rugby World Cup finals, with Namibia (30-0). 2007 Rugby World Cup
The 2007 Rugby World Cup was the sixth Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union competition inaugurated in 1987. Twenty nations competed for the Webb Ellis Cup in the tournament, which was hosted by France from 7 September to 20 October. France won the hosting rights in 2003, beating a bid from England. The competition consisted of 48 matches over 44 days; 42 matches were played in ten cities throughout France, as well as four in Cardiff, Wales, and two in Edinburgh, Scotland. The eight quarter-finalists from 2003 were granted automatic qualification, while 12 other nations gained entry through the regional qualifying competitions that began in 2004 – of them, Portugal was the only World Cup debutant. The Rugby World Cup is a men's rugby union tournament contested every four years between the top international teams. The tournament is administered by World Rugby, the sport's international governing body. The winners are awarded the Webb Ellis Cup, named after William Webb Ellis, who according to a popular legend, invented rugby by picking up the ball during a football game. The tournament was first held in 1987 and was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Four countries have won the trophy; New Zealand and South Africa three times, Australia twice, and England once. Claude Saurel (born 17 April 1948) is a former French people, French rugby union footballer and current coach. He is a former head coach of the Russia national rugby union team, Russia national rugby team. Saurel played his rugby for Béziers, his position being flanker. He went on to become the national coach of Morocco national rugby union team, Morocco. He made the move to Georgia after he was invited to conduct an audit of Georgian rugby in 1997. He went on to work with their Rugby Sevens team, until he was appointed as the national head coach in the summer of 1999. His appointment as head coach saw a surge in success for Georgian rugby. Tim Lane (born 24 November 1959, in Coonabarabran, New South Wales) is an Australian rugby union coach and former player. Playing career Lane played either in the centres or at fly-half. He represented Queensland from 1981 to 1987, and also won three caps for the Wallabies in 1985. Coaching career He started his coaching career at the Manly club in Sydney where in one season took them to an undefeated premiership. In 1998 he took on the job of an assistant coach for the Wallabies, coaching the back-line during which time the team won the Bledisloe Cup and Tri- Nations and the 1999 Rugby World Cup in Wales. In 2000 he took over coaching at Clermont Ferrand in France where he took the club to the final in his first season.
