Malik Newman
Malik Tidderious Newman (born February 21, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for Avtodor Saratov of the VTB United League. He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks. He attended Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi. He helped lead Callaway to four straight victories in the MHSAA Class 5A boys basketball championship. As a senior his jersey number 14 was retired by the school. High school career Newman attended Callaway High School in Jackson, Mississippi all four years of his high school basketball career. As a junior, Newman scored 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks to defeat Vicksburg High School to win the 2014 Mississippi Class 5A Championship. In August 2014, Newman was named the MVP of the 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship. 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship
The 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship (Arabic: بطولة العالم لكرة السلة 2014 تحت 17 سنة ) was the 3rd edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Championship, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U17 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was hosted by Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 8 to 16 August 2014. This edition of the tournament was also expanded to sixteen teams. The Nike Hoop Summit is an international men's basketball all-star game sponsored by Nike, held once a year since 1995, except from 2001–2003, which features the USA Basketball Men's Junior Select Team against a World Select Team of international players. The Jordan Brand Classic is a high school All-Star basketball game played annually in April.
