Malcolm McFadyen
Malcolm McFadyen (9 June 1838 – c. 15 April 1883) was a Canadian politician, who represented 4th Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1882 to 1886. He was a member of the Prince Edward Island Liberal Party. A school teacher, farmer and general merchant in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island, McFadyen ran unsuccessfully in the 1876 provincial election, the 1878 federal election and the 1879 provincial election before being elected in the 1882 provincial election. Legislative Assembly Of Prince Edward Island
The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Legislative Assembly meets at Province House, which is located at the intersection of Richmond and Great George Streets in Charlottetown. 1878 Canadian Federal Election
The 1878 Canadian federal election was held on September 17, 1878 to elect members of the House of Commons of the 4th Parliament of Canada. It resulted in the end of Prime Minister Alexander Mackenzie's Liberal government after only one term in office. Canada suffered an economic depression during Mackenzie's term, and his party was punished by voters for it. The Liberals' policy of free trade also hurt their support with the business establishment in Toronto and Montreal. Sir John A. James Edwin Robertson
James Edwin Robertson (October 8, 1840 – October 30, 1915) was a Canadian physician and politician. Born in New Perth, Prince Edward Island, the son of Peter Robertson and Annie McFarlane, Robertson was educated at McGill University where he graduated with honours in 1865, after which he located in Montague, Prince Edward Island where he has worked up a large practice. In 1870, he was acclaimed to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island for 4th Kings. He was re-elected in 1876 but was defeated in 1879. He was re-elected in 1882. He was a Minister Without Portfolio in the cabinet of Robert Poore Haythorne and Louis Henry Davies. He was elected to the House of Commons of Canada for King's County in the 1882 election.
