Malampaya Gas Field
The Malampaya gas field or the Malampaya-Camago field is a deepwater gas-condensate reservoir, located in the Service Contract 38 license area, located offshore, 65 km northwest of the island of Palawan, Philippines. Background The field was discovered during the drilling of the Camago-1 well in 1989, and following successful appraisal of the Malampaya field in the 1990s, first gas flowed in September 2001. Commercial production started in January 2002. The field was developed and currently operated by Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX), under the Royal Dutch Shell; with joint venture partners - Chevron Malampaya LLC and Philippine National Oil Company Exploration Corporation. The Pandacan Oil Depot was a 33-hectare compound in Pandacan, Manila, Philippines. It housed the storage facilities and distribution terminals of three major players in the country's petroleum industry, namely Caltex (a petroleum brand name of Chevron Corporation), Petron Corporation, Petron, and Royal Dutch Shell, Shell. Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape And Seascape
Malampaya Sound is a protected inlet of the South China Sea on the northwestern coast of Palawan Island in western Philippines. It is a geographic sound consisting of a complex of sheltered bays, coves, estuaries and islands separated from the sea to the west by the Copoas Peninsula. The sound is within the municipality of Taytay and is an important feature for the ecology and economy of the province of Palawan. It is considered one of the finest natural harbors in the Philippines and one of Palawan's richest fishing grounds. The entire embayment and its surrounding landscape was declared a marine protected area in 2000 known as the ''Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape''.
