is a Japanese animator, director, writer, and storyboard artist. Best known for his works with Shaft (company), Shaft, he has attained international recognition with the studio for his unique visual style and storytelling methods. New Moomin
is the second anime television series adaptation of the Moomin book series by the Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. It is a remake of the 1969-1970 ''Moomin'' series, which was loosely based on the books. is a Japanese anime television series produced by Zuiyo Enterprise and animated by Tokyo Movie until episode 26 and by Mushi Production after episode 27. The series is loosely based on the Moomin books by the Finnish author Tove Jansson and was broadcast on Fuji Television from 1969 to 1970. A sequel series entitled '' Shin Muumin'' (New Moomin) was later released in 1972. Jansson never approved of the series or its successor, due to their dramatic changes with the plots, overall atmosphere, and character personalities. Dororo (1969 TV Series)
The 1969 ''Dororo'' black and white anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka. In 1968, in order to pitch the series, Tezuka created a 13-minute full-color pilot which summarized the story Hyakkimaru's birth and upbringing and meeting with Dororo, and an abbreviated version of ''The Tale of the Monster Bandai''. The series was produced in black and white coloring due to budget cuts, but made the demons look more weird and menacing. While reasonably faithful to the original ''Dororo'' (1967–69) manga, the network was originally concerned that the series was too dark because of the bloody battles, vistas of carnage and burning villages, so the cute dog Nota was added to the cast. ''Journey to the West'' () is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty and attributed to Wu Cheng'en. It is regarded as one of the greatest Classic Chinese Novels, and has been described as arguably the most popular literary work in East Asia. Arthur Waley's abridged translation, '' Monkey'', is known in English-speaking countries. The novel is an extended account of the legendary pilgrimage of the Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang, who traveled to the "Western Regions" (Central Asia and India) to obtain Buddhist sacred texts (sūtras) and returned after many trials and much suffering. The monk is referred to as Tang Sanzang in the novel.
