"Making Time" is a song by English rock band The Creation, and it was released as their debut single in 1966. It was written by Kenny Pickett (lead singer) and Eddie Phillips. The lyrics portray the experience of working in a clock factory while co-workers listen to their favorites on the radio. The song features an electric guitar played with a violin bow. Cover versions The song has been covered by Das Damen, Little Free Rock, Television Personalities, and Green Bullfrog. You Am I released a version of the song on "Beat Party!", a bonus disc that came with initial copies of their album '' Hourly, Daily''. The Creation (band)
The Creation was an English rock band, formed in 1966. Their best-known songs are "Making Time", which was one of the first rock songs to feature a Bowed guitar, guitar played with a bow, and "Painter Man", which made the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart in late 1966, and reached No. 8 in the German chart in April 1967. It was covered by Boney M in 1979, and reached the No. 10 position in the UK chart. "Making Time" was used in the movie ''Rushmore (film), Rushmore,'' and as the theme song from season 2 onwards of ''The Great Pottery Throw Down''. Creation biographer Sean Egan defined their style as "a unique hybrid of pop, rock, psychedelia and the avant garde." ''Green Bullfrog'' is a blues album recorded by an ad hoc band and produced by Derek Lawrence. The bulk of the album was recorded over two sessions at De Lane Lea Studios, London in 1970, with later string and brass overdubs. It was originally released in 1971, with reissues in 1980 and 1991. The album listed pseudonyms in the credits for contractual reasons and was commercially unsuccessful. The musicians were eventually confirmed as including Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore and Ian Paice, Procol Harum's Matthew Fisher, Chas & Dave's Chas Hodges and session guitarists Albert Lee and Big Jim Sullivan. Makin' Time (band)
Makin' Time were a British band from the Black Country towns of Willenhall, Wolverhampton and West Bromwich in the West Midlands, signed to the Countdown Records label and licensed through Stiff Records, and were part of the mod revival scene of the 1980s. They were named after "Making Time", a song by The Creation. The band consisted of four members - Mark McGounden (vocals/guitar), Fay Hallam (organ/vocals), Martin Blunt (bass) and Neil Clitheroe (drums). Their debut single "Here Is My Number" was produced by Pat Collier who had previously worked with Katrina and the Waves. The band released a number of albums and several singles but never managed to convert their energetic sound into chart success. Martin Blunt would go on to perform in The Charlatans, Fay Hallam moved into a solo career and as of 2020 is a member of The Catenary Wires. ''The Great Pottery Throw Down'' is a British television competition programme first broadcast on BBC Two from 3 November 2015. It is a contest in the style of ''The Great British Bake Off'' and ''The Great British Sewing Bee'', but with pottery. Format In each episode, a group of amateur potters compete to complete two pottery challenges. In the "main make" challenge, contestants undertake a substantial multi-stage creative task: subject to given specifications, they must design a ceramic creation, build it from raw clay, and decorate it; the finished products are fired in the kiln and presented to the judges for evaluation. In between stages of the main make, potters are given a "second challenge", a smaller-scale task testing a specific pottery skill, on which they are ranked from worst to best by the judges.
