Makati Science High School
The Makati Science High School (Filipino: ''Mataas na Paaralang Pang-agham ng Makati''; informal: MakSci) is a public secondary school located in Kalayaan Avenue, Cembo, Makati. The school implemented the K-12 system last 2016 and offers only the Science and Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Strand for Senior High School (SHS). The current principal serving the school is Mrs. Eden Fredeluces Samadan since 2018. History The school was founded as Makati West High School on June 16, 1986 in Mayapis Street, Barangay San Antonio with the help of then-mayor Jejomar Binay in order to address the need of elementary graduates of the first legislative district of Makati. In its inauguration it was only the third public secondary school in the city, coming after Makati High School (1968) and Fort Bonifacio High School (1947). Embo, Makati
Embo (sometimes capitalized as EMBO; from "Enlisted Men's Barrio") refers to a collective term for barangays administered by the city government of Makati. The barangays were originally established to house military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The area is part of the larger disputed Fort Bonifacio area which is claimed by the city government of Taguig. Etymology The collective for the Embo barangays were derived from enlisted men's barrios (EMBOs). Taguig (), officially the City of Taguig ( fil, Lungsod ng Taguig), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in Metro Manila, Philippines. Kalayaan Avenue
Kalayaan Avenue is a major east–west route in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines. For most of its length, it runs parallel to J.P. Rizal Avenue to the north from East Rembo near Fort Bonifacio to Barangay Singkamas by the border with San Andres, Manila. It is interrupted by Bel-Air Village between Rockwell Drive and Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA). K-12
K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993, well known worldwide mainly for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. In January 2012, K-1 Global Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, acquired the rights to K-1, and is the current organizer of K-1 events worldwide. Founded in 1993 by karateka Kazuyoshi Ishii, at its height in the late 90s and the 2000s under the ownership of the Fighting and Entertainment Group (FEG), K-1 was the largest and most prestigious "Kickboxing" organization in the world. Jejomar "Jojo" Cabauatan Binay Sr. (born Jesus Jose Cabauatan Binay; November 11, 1942) is a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 13th vice president of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016, under President Benigno Aquino III. The legislative districts of Makati are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Makati in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first and second districts.
