Maidenhead Half Marathon
Maidenhead Half Marathon is an annual running race held in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England. The inaugural race took place on Sunday 4 September 2011, starting at 9.30am, and attracted over 2,000 entrants. It was organised by local company Purple Patch Running. Past winners § Location changed to Dorney Lake for this edition. Course Maidenhead Half Marathon has a fast flat course, with an overall elevation change of less than 10 m, and therefore provides excellent PB potential. 2011 The original course took in some of the most attractive local scenery including Bray, Maidenhead Riverside and Cookham. Starting in front of the Town Hall, runners made their way round the town centre before heading out along the A308 towards Windsor. Bray, Berkshire
Bray, occasionally Bray on Thames, is a large suburban village and civil parish in the English county of Berkshire. It sits on the banks of the River Thames, to the southeast of Maidenhead of which it is a suburb. The village is mentioned in the comedic song "The Vicar of Bray". A4 Road (England)
The A4 is a major road in England from Central London to Avonmouth via Heathrow Airport, Reading, Bath and Bristol. It is historically known as the Bath Road with newer sections including the Great West Road and Portway. The road was once the main route from London to Bath, Bristol and the west of England and formed, after the A40, the second main western artery from London. Although most traffic is carried by the M4 motorway today, the A4 still acts as the main route from Bristol to London for non-motorway traffic. Maidenhead Bridge
Maidenhead Bridge is a Grade I listed bridge carrying the A4 road over the River Thames between Maidenhead, Berkshire and Taplow, Buckinghamshire, England. It crosses the Thames on the reach above Bray Lock, about half a mile below Boulter's Lock. The Thames Path crosses the river here. History The first bridge was built of wood in 1280 in what was then the hamlet of South Ellington. The Great West Road to Reading, Gloucester and Bristol was diverted over the new bridge – previously it kept to the north bank crossed the Thames by ford at Cookham – and mediaeval Maidenhead grew up around it. Helen Davies (née Decker born 12 September 1979) is a British long-distance runner. She finished 3rd British Lady at the London Marathon in 2010. She competed for Britain at the 2010 European Athletics Championships and represented England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, both in the marathon.After a 5 year break from running in 2012 to start a family, she returned successfully in 2017 to win the Brighton Marathon, and then went on to win at Brighton Marathon for a furthermore two years, earning selection for a third time to run for Team England at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in Canada in 2018. Cumulating in a hat trick of wins and pb performance in 2019 at Brighton Marathon. Following this performance She was selected for Team GB to represent at the IAU 50k World Championships in Brasov Romania.
