Mahon River Light
Mahon River Lighthouse is a U.S. lighthouse in Port Mahon, Delaware, on the west side of the mouth of the Delaware River. History The original Mahon River Lighthouse built in 1903 and was a 2-story wood keeper's house with an octagonal lantern centered on the roof. It was discontinued in 1955, the same year as the current steel skeletal tower was lit. The 1903 lighthouse burned accidentally in 1984. The clubhouse of the Jonathan's Landing Golf Course in Magnolia was built as a replica of the original lighthouse. Port Mahon, Delaware
Port Mahon was a port in Kent County, Delaware, United States located along the Delaware Bay at the eastern end of Port Mahon Road, northeast of Little Creek. and served as a port for the town. It is also located nearby Leipsic. Named for the Spanish city, Mahón, it is locally pronounced "MAY-hon" (not Mah-HONE). It functions as public fishing piers. Magnolia is a town in Kent County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the Dover, Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Recent estimates put the population at around 235, however, the population was 225 at the 2010 census. History The area was known as Caroon Manor when it was first founded and the land had been given by the Duke of York.
