Mahfuza Khanam
Mahfuza Khanam is a Bangladeshi academic and social activist. She is the current president of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh since January 2018. She was awarded Begum Rokeya Padak (2012) and Anannya Top Ten Awards (2013). Career While Khanam was a student of the University of Dhaka, she served as the vice-president of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU). In 2009, Khanam served as the General Secretary of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. Khanam served as the director general of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. She served as the chairperson of ''Khelaghar Ashor'', an organisation for children. Asiatic Society Of Bangladesh
The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. The society is housed in Nimtali, walking distance from the Curzon Hall of Dhaka University, locality of Old Dhaka. Amirul Islam Chowdhury
Amirul Islam Chowdhury (born 1942) is a Bangladeshi academic. He served as the vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University and president of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. He is currently a professor at the United International University. Education Chowdhury got his bachelor's and master's in economics from the University of Dhaka in 1961 and 1963 respectively. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wales in 1979. He later worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Jawaharlal Nehru University during 1987–88. Career Chowdhury served as a research officer at the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Pakistan during June 1964 – April 1965. Shafique Ahmed (born 16 July 1937) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He served as the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. Education Ahmed earned his bachelor's and master's in geography from the University of Dhaka in 1958 and 1959 respectively. He earned his LLB degree from the same university in 1963. Begum Rokeya Padak
Begum Rokeya Padak, named after Begum Rokeya, is a Bangladeshi national honour conferred on individual women for their exceptional achievement. The award is given by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. The award recognises the pioneering contribution of an individual in empowering women and raising women's issues. Each awardee receives a gold medal weighing 25 grams of 18-karat gold, a certificate of honour, and a sum of cash. The amount of the cash reward was tk 2,00,000 from May 2017. Next it was increased to tk 4,00,000 from November 2019. The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. The university opened its doors to students on July 1st 1921. Currently it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 46,150 and a faculty of 1,992. Dhaka University Central Students' Union, also known by its acronym DUCSU, is the official students' union of the University of Dhaka. Called the second parliament of Bangladesh, DUCSU represents Dhaka University students in the university's decision-making, acts as the voice for students in the national higher education policy debate, and to provides direct services to the student body. History It was established in the academic year of 1923-24 as Dhaka University Student Union. Its first constitution was drafted in its general assembly on 30 October 1925. Itihas Academy
Itihasa () refers to the collection of written descriptions of important events in Hinduism. It includes the Mahabharata, the Puranas and the Ramayana. The Mahabharata includes the story of the Kurukshetra War and preserves the traditions of the Lunar dynasty in the form of embedded tales. The Puranas narrate universal history – the books discuss in depth the topics of cosmogony, myth, legend and history. The Ramayana contains the story of Rama and is incidentally related to the legends of the Solar dynasty. A story is considered to be ''itihasa'' only when the author of the story has himself witnessed or is part of the story. Vyasa, who wrote the ''Mahabharata'', is himself a character in the story.
