Maheshwari Udyan, Mumbai
Maheshwari Udyan, also known by its former name King's Circle ( until 1962), is a park in Matunga, Mumbai. It was named after George V, the King-Emperor. The part of the road that leads to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was formerly called Vincent Road. It was changed to Dr. Ambedkar Road almost 45 years ago. King's Circle station and Matunga railway station are next to each other, the former on the Harbour and the latter on the Central line. Morarji Desai, then Union Finance minister of India, laid the foundation stone on 3 February 1962 to commemorate the name change. Located very close to King's Circle station is South Indian Education Society High School, one of Mumbai's oldest schools. Matunga (Marathi pronunciation: aːʈuŋɡaː is a locality in the heart of Mumbai City towards downtown Mumbai. It is serviced by the Matunga Road station on the Western line, Matunga station on the Central Line and King's Circle station on the Harbour Line. Geographically, Matunga is surrounded by the Sion-Dharavi belt to the North, Mahim to the North-West, GTB Nagar to the North-East, Wadala to the East and Dadar to the South. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (officially Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Bombay station code: CSMT ( mainline)/ST (suburban)), is a historic railway terminus and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The terminus was designed by a British born architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens from an initial design by Axel Haig, in an exuberant Italian Gothic style. Its construction began in 1878, in a location south of the old Bori Bunder railway station,Page 64 and was completed in 1887, the year marking 50 years of Queen Victoria's rule. King's Circle Railway Station
King's Circle (station code: KCE) is a railway station on the Harbour line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. King's Circle and Matunga stations are next to each other albeit the latter is on the Central line. It is named after the King's Circle Park, which was named after George V, the King-Emperor. The trains passing through King's Circle station are only the ones going to Bandra, Andheri and Goregaon from CSMT and vice versa. Matunga Railway Station
Matunga is a railway station on the Central line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It should not be confused with the nearby Matunga Road railway station on the Western Line. As per the Limca Book of Records 2018, Matunga is the first railway station in India in suburban category to be completely staffed by women. Events Mumbai Division of Central Railway in July 2017 posted a total of 41 women staffers, including 17 booking clerks, 6 Railway Protection Force personnel, 8 ticket checkers, 5 point persons, 2 announcers and 2 cleaners working under the supervision of station manager Mrs. Mamta Kulkarni, making them eligible for the entry in Limca Book as first all-women station. Morarji Desai
Morarji Ranchhodji Desai (29 February 1896 – 10 April 1995) was an Indian independence activist and politician who served as the 4th Prime Minister of India between 1977 to 1979 leading the government formed by the Janata Party.
