Mohinder Singh (1852-1876) was the Maharaja of Patiala from 1862 to 1876. Life Mohinder Singh was the son of Narinder Singh, Maharaja of the State of Patiala. He was a member of the Phulkian Dynasty and succeeded to the throne in 1862 while still a child, so a council of regency ran the state government until he came of age in 1870. The project of the Sirhind Canal was sanctioned and completed during his reign , the State contributing one crore and twenty lakhs, as its share towards the cost of its construction. Mohindra College was founded and endowed with a palatial building, for the promotion of higher education, which was given free. The telegraph line between Patiala and Ambala was also constructed during this reign. Mahendra Singh Sodha, popularly known as M. S. Sodha, is an Indian physicist specialising in Plasma (physics), Plasma, Optics and Energy and a former vice chancellor of Lucknow University, Devi Ahilya University and Barkatullah University. A 1974 winner of the highest Indian science award, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, Sodha was honoured by the Government of India again in 2003 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award. Mahendra Singh Tikait (6 October 1935 – 15 May 2011) was an Indian farmer leader from the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He was born in 1935 at village Sisauli in Muzaffarnagar District of Uttar Pradesh. He was President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Mahendra Singh Tikait died in Muzaffarnagar on 15 May 2011 from bone cancer at the age of 75. Tikait had become the ''Chaudhary'' of Balyan (surname), Baliyan Khap, at the age of eight after his father's death. In January 2021, Mahendra Singh Tikait's two sons organized a protest against new farm laws, with Naresh Tikait being BKU's chief and Rakesh Tikait its spokesperson. Military career On October 21, 1990, Mahendra Singh of Jhunjhunu's Dumra village joined the Special Forces 9th Battalion The Parachute Regiment.
