Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, also shortened as Céspedes, is a town and municipality in the Camagüey Province of Cuba. It was named for the independence fighter Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (1819-1874). Florida () is a municipality and city in the Camagüey Province of Cuba. It is located north-west of Camagüey, along the Carretera Central highway. The city was established in 1907, and the municipality was established in 1924. Of all the municipalities of the Cuban province of Camagüey, Florida is third in area size. The name is Spanish for ''Land of flowers''. History The town was founded in 1907 and, in 1949, the politician Francisco Díaz Marchand presented a project to turn it into an independent municipality. The project did not prosper, but in 1960 Manuel Frías Morales drafted a law to carry out the feasibility studies for the foundation of the municipality, but the opinion was adverse. Later, the Law #30 of June 14, 1971 created the municipality of Florida, one of the youngest of the island. Administratively, Cuba is divided into 15 provinces and one special municipality (the Isla de la Juventud). Camagüey Province
Camagüey () is the largest of the provinces of Cuba. Its capital is Camagüey. Other towns include Florida and Nuevitas. Geography Camagüey is mostly low lying, with no major hills or mountain ranges passing through the province. Numerous large cays (including what used to be one of Fidel Castro's favourite fishing spots; the Archipiélago Jardines de la Reina) characterize the southern coasts, while the northern coast is lined by Jardines del Rey of the Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago. Sandy beaches are found on both coasts also, and despite a large potential for tourism, the province has seen little development in that area with the exception of Santa Lucía beach, on the province's North coast. es, consejo popular, lit=Popular Council, People's Council (sometimes shorten to CP) commonly stated as a ward is an electoral ward or "political-administrative demarcations" of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba. They were created in 1988 and there are a total of 474 wards as of 2023. They also work as subdivisions, under municipalities. Most rural wards include 1 major town or village (usually with a population of 700-3000) with a few hamlets, while urban areas (usually municipal seat) are usually split into a few wards, named the city name with a I, II and sometimes III, and IV (an example is Camajuaní II). Esmeralda is a municipality and town in the Camagüey Province of Cuba. Geography The municipality is divided into the barrios of Brasil (also known as Jaronú), Caonao, Guanaja, Quemado and Tabor.
