Madora Bay, Western Australia
Madora Bay is a suburb of the City of Mandurah. History First named in 1960 as Madora Beach Estate, the name was derived from the Kimberley pastoral station of Mandora and a former railway siding near Dwellingup known as Chadora. The suburb was gazetted in 1990 as Madora but was later amended to its current name in 2003. After Madora Beach Road was constructed in 1959, only four roads connected to the area: Sabina Drive, Challenger Road, Albion Road and Madora Beach Road. Back then, lot prices were between £250 and £525 for the best lotswhich were on Sabina Drive facing the beach front. Interested buyers were able to pay £5 to secure a lot, and then pay up to 84 monthly payments. Buyers also had to secure their own water via rain tanks and wells; sewerage was disposed of through septic tanks. Mandurah () is a coastal city in the Australian state of Western Australia, situated approximately south of the state capital, Perth. It is the state's second most populous city, with a population of 107,641 as of the 2021 census. Mandurah's central business district is located on the Mandurah Estuary, which is an outlet for the Peel Inlet and Harvey Estuary. The city's name is derived from the Noongar word ''mandjar'', meaning "meeting place" or "trading place". Mandurah is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is based on the coastal satellite city of Mandurah to the south of Perth. Meadow Springs is a suburb of Mandurah, immediately northeast of Mandurah's central area. Alongside some of Mandurah's most recent land estates, it contains a large golf course, Catholic primary school, Anglican co-educational school, and a war veterans' estate. Mandora Station
Mandora Station is a cattle station on the Western Australia coast south of Broome, located in the Shire of Broome. In earlier years it has also been a sheep station. It maintains a weather station and is noted for the Mandora Marsh wetland, and for its proximity to Eighty Mile Beach, which are key stopping places for migratory birds.
