Maddy Gordon
Maddy Gordon (born 16 January 2000) is a New Zealand netball international. She was a member of the New Zealand teams that won the 2021 Constellation Cup and the 2022 Taini Jamison Trophy Series. She also represented New Zealand at the 2023 Netball World Cup. Gordon was also a prominent member of the Central Pulse teams that won the 2019, 2020 and 2022 ANZ Premiership titles. Early life, family and education Gordon was born and bred in Whangārei. She is the daughter of Carolyn and David Gordon. She stayed in Whangārei until she was 16. She subsequently attended Mount Albert Grammar School, where she excelled at netball, volleyball, athletics, cross-country and swimming. Playing career Central Zone In 2018, Gordon was a member of the Central Zone team that won the National Netball League title. Whangārei
Whangārei () is the northernmost city in New Zealand and the regional capital of Northland Region. It is part of the Whangarei District, Whangārei District, a local body created in 1989 from the former Whangārei City, Whangārei County and Hikurangi Town councils, to administer both the city proper and its hinterland. Australia National Netball Team
The Australia national netball team, also known as the Australian Diamonds, represent Netball Australia in international netball tournaments such as the INF Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Constellation Cup, the Netball Quad Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series. Netball New Zealand Super Club
The Netball New Zealand Super Club was a netball tournament organised by Netball New Zealand. It featured teams from the ANZ Premiership as well as invited overseas teams, including teams from Australia, Great Britain, South Africa and Singapore. Southern Steel won the inaugural 2017 tournament, while Central Pulse and Collingwood Magpies won the subsequent 2018 and 2019 tournaments respectively. The ANZ Premiership is the top level netball league featuring teams from New Zealand. In 2017 it replaced the ANZ Championship, which also included teams from Australia, as the top level netball league in New Zealand. It is organised by Netball New Zealand. Its main sponsor is ANZ. Taini Jamison Trophy
The Taini Jamison Trophy is an international netball tournament hosted in New Zealand by the Netball New Zealand organisation. The trophy is contested by the New Zealand national team and at least one touring national team each year. Consequently the format for the competition can vary on a yearly basis. History The Taini Jamison Trophy was introduced in 2008 to mark instances when any netballing nation, other than Australia, plays the Silver Ferns on New Zealand soil. When New Zealand and Australia meet in non-World Cup or Commonwealth Games fixtures, the two nations play-off for the Constellation Cup. Since the inaugural series in 2008, most of the leading nations outside Australia have competed for the Taini Jamison Trophy, including England, Jamaica, South Africa, Malawi, Fiji and Samoa. Constellation Cup
The Constellation Cup is an international netball competition contested by Australia and New Zealand. The competition features a series of test matches. The two teams have competed for the trophy since 2010. Australia won the inaugural series and have gone on to become the competition's dominant team. Between 2013 and 2019, Australia won the series on seven successive occasions. New Zealand won the trophy for the first time in 2012 and for a second time in 2021. 2023 Constellation Cup
The 2023 Constellation Cup was the 13th Constellation Cup series between Australia and New Zealand. It featured four netball test matches, played in October 2023. The Australia team were coached by Stacey Marinkovich and captained by Liz Watson. The New Zealand team were coached by Noeline Taurua and captained by Ameliaranne Ekenasio. The second test was Australia's 500th international test match. Australia won the first two tests and led 2–0 going into the third test. However, New Zealand won the third and fourth tests to level the series at 2–2. Australia were declared the series winners and retained the Constellation Cup based on aggregate score score.
