Maddie Elia
Maddie Elia (born May 31, 1995) is an ice hockey player from Lewiston, New York. During the 2018–19 NWHL season she was the league's scoring leader and was named NWHL Most Valuable Player (MVP). Early life and education Raised in Lewiston, New York, Elia attended Nichols School and began playing ice hockey as a youth. She attended Boston University, where she played for the Boston Terriers from 2013-17. Playing career Professional hockey Buffalo Beauts, 2017–2019 Elia was drafted to the Buffalo Beauts during the 2016 NWHL Draft. During her first season with the Beauts, Elia scored 5 goals and notched 9 assists in 14 games helping the team advance to the playoffs and Isobel Cup final where they were defeated by the Metropolitan Riveters. The 2018–19 NWHL season is the fourth season of the National Women's Hockey League. All four teams from the previous three seasons returned: the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, and the Metropolitan Riveters while the Minnesota Whitecaps entered the league as an expansion team bringing the league to five teams. Nichols School
Nichols School is a private, non-denominational, co-educational college- preparatory day school in Buffalo, New York, United States. The average enrollment is 570 students with an average Upper School grade/class size of 98 students. The average classroom size is 14 students. History Nichols School was founded in 1892 by William Nichols. The school was founded as an all-boys school with its campus on Amherst Street in North Buffalo. The Boston University Terriers are the ten men's and fourteen women's varsity athletic teams representing Boston University in NCAA Division I competition. The Buffalo Beauts are a professional ice hockey team based in Amherst, New York, United States. The team was established in 2015 as one of the four founding franchises of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF), originally named the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Metropolitan Riveters
The Metropolitan Riveters (originally the New York Riveters) are a professional women's ice hockey team based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with home games at the American Dream Meadowlands ice rink. They were one of the four charter franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), now known as the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Its team name and logo are based upon Rosie the Riveter, the subject of the World War II-era motivational poster "We Can Do It!". Alexa Gruschow is an American-born women's ice hockey player that won the scoring title during the 2017-18 NWHL season. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Riveters franchise that won the 2018 Isobel Cup. Playing career NCAA With the Rensselaer Engineers, Gruschow appeared in 133 games with the program, accumulating 46 goals and 47 assists for a total of 93 points.
