Alexa Gruschow
Alexa Gruschow is an American-born women's ice hockey player that won the scoring title during the 2017-18 NWHL season. She was also a member of the Metropolitan Riveters franchise that won the 2018 Isobel Cup. Playing career NCAA With the Rensselaer Engineers, Gruschow appeared in 133 games with the program, accumulating 46 goals and 47 assists for a total of 93 points. Graduating third on the Engineer's all-time scoring list, trailing Alisa Harrison and Whitney Naslund, she also ranks second all-time in goals scored, trailing only Naslund. During her senior season, she registered a career-best 23 points in 34 appearances, logging 13 goals plus 10 assists. In addition, she paced the Engineers in power play goals with four, while also leading with 115 shots, 313 face-off wins and a .503 face-off winning percentage, respectively. Metropolitan Riveters
The Metropolitan Riveters (originally the New York Riveters) are a professional women's ice hockey team based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, with home games at the American Dream Meadowlands ice rink. They were one of the four charter franchises of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL), now known as the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Its team name and logo are based upon Rosie the Riveter, the subject of the World War II-era motivational poster "We Can Do It!". The Riveters played one season in Brooklyn before moving to the New Jersey Devils practice rink in Newark, New Jersey, in 2016. The team then had a promotional affiliation with the Devils from beginning in 2017 and were renamed the Metropolitan Riveters; the partnership ended in 2019. NWHL Leading Scorer Award
Since 2016, the year of its inaugural season (which was then known as the NWHL), the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) grants several annual awards to players in the league, including Most Valuable Player, Goaltender of the Year, Best Defender, Rookie/Newcomer of the Year, Denna Laing Award (formerly the Perseverance Award), Foundation Award, Leading Scorer Award, and the Fans' Three Stars of the Season. The award for Most Valuable Player is voted on by the Premier Hockey Federation Players' Association. Nominees for the Foundation Award are chosen by the Players Association and voted on by fans. Hayley Scamurra
Hayley Scamurra (born December 14, 1994) is a women's ice hockey player who currently plays internationally for the USA Women's Ice Hockey team, and previously played for the Buffalo Beauts of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). Before joining the Beauts, she played college ice hockey at Northeastern University, where she played for four seasons. She is the daughter of former Washington Capitals player Peter Scamurra. Before playing college hockey, she was one of the only few American players to compete in the Ontario Junior women's league, playing for the Oakville Jr. Hornets and Burlington Jr. Barracudas. Maddie Elia (born May 31, 1995) is an ice hockey player from Lewiston, New York. During the 2018–19 NWHL season she was the league's scoring leader and was named NWHL Most Valuable Player (MVP). Early life and education Raised in Lewiston, New York, Elia attended Nichols School and began playing ice hockey as a youth. She attended Boston University, where she played for the Boston Terriers from 2013-17. Playing career Professional hockey Buffalo Beauts, 2017–2019 Elia was drafted to the Buffalo Beauts during the 2016 NWHL Draft.
