Macrothelypteris Torresiana
''Macrothelypteris torresiana'' is a species of fern which is native to tropical and subtropical Africa and Asia. It has been introduced into other areas, including large parts of North and South America. The species is assigned to different genera depending on how the family Thelypteridaceae is classified. If the entire family is classified in ''Thelypteris'', it is ''Thelypteris torresiana''. However, molecular data shows an affinity between a group of species which are sometimes classified in ''Macrothelypteris'', ''Phegopteris'', and allied genera, so it is common to remove this species from ''Thelypteris'' and classify it as ''Macrothelypteris torresiana''. The ''Flora of North America North of Mexico'' (usually referred to as ''FNA'') is a multivolume work describing the native plants and naturalized plants of North America, including the United States, Canada, St. Pierre and Miquelon, and Greenland. It includes bryophytes and vascular plants. All taxa are described and included in dichotomous keys, distributions of all species and infraspecific taxa are mapped, and about 20% of species are illustrated with line drawings prepared specifically for FNA. It is expected to fill 30 volumes when completed and will be the first work to treat all of the known flora north of Mexico; in 2015 it was expected tha the series would conclude in 2017. Twenty-nine of the volumes have been published as of 2022. Soon after publication, the contents are made available online. Thelypteris
''Thelypteris'' (maiden ferns) is a genus of ferns in the subfamily Thelypteridoideae, family Thelypteridaceae, order Polypodiales. Two radically different circumscriptions of the genus are in use . In the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I), the genus is a very small one with about two species. In other approaches, the genus is the only one in the subfamily Thelypteridoideae, and so includes between 875 and 1083 species. The genus name is from Greek ''thēlys'' "female" and ''pteris'' "fern". However, "female fern" usually refers to the common lady-fern. Taxonomy At one time, all thelypterioid ferns were included in the genus ''Dryopteris'' because of the sorus shape. However, there are a great many differences between the groups, and these plants are now segregated in their own family. ''Phegopteris'' is a genus of ferns in the family Thelypteridaceae, subfamily Phegopteridoideae, in the Pteridophyte Phylogeny Group classification of 2016 (PPG I). They are known collectively as the beech ferns. Species are native to Asia, North America and Europe.
