Maaskantje
Maaskantje () is a village in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. The village is part of the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel, southeast of 's-Hertogenbosch. History The village was first mentioned in 1750 as "nabij het Maaskantje te Gestel", and means "near the mud". Maaskantje was home to 424 people in 1840. Around 1900, Maaskantje and Den Dungen started to merge into a single urban area. Before 1996, Maaskantje was part of the municipality of Den Dungen instead of the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel. In 1996, Den Dungen became part of Sint-Michielsgestel. ''New Kids'' is a Dutch comedy sketch show about a group of anti-social behaviour, anti-social youths from Maaskantje, a village in the southern province of North Brabant. It was created by and . The show was first shown on ''Flabber.nl'', a Dutch blog, as a succession to ', which aired in 2001. Later, it was picked up by 101 TV and Comedy Central Netherlands, Comedy Central. Den Dungen
Den Dungen is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel next to the village Maaskantje. History The village was first mentioned in 1300 as "Super Donghen prope Buscum", and means "sandy hills in swampy land". Den Dungen developed in the Middle Ages on three hills near the Aa River. During the 17th century, a ring dike was built to protect against floods. The Catholic St.-Jacobus de Meerdere Church was completed in 1533. In 1899, a new tower was constructed with a needle spire. In 1927, the church was expanded. Den Dungen was home to 1,399 people in 1840. Around 1900, Den Dungen and Maaskantje started to merge into a single urban area.
