The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Generally, the house is located in the Binnenhof in The Hague, however, it has temporarily moved to the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Bezuidenhoutseweg 67 in the Hague while the Binnenhof is being renovated. Name Although the body is officially called the "House of Representatives" in English, it is not a direct translation of its official Dutch name, the "Second Chamber of the States General", "Second Chamber" or more colloquially just the "Chamber". Ferwert
Ferwert ( nl, Ferwerd) is a village in Noardeast-Fryslân in the province of Friesland, the Netherlands. It had a population of around 1787 in January 2017. Before 2019, the village was part of the Ferwerderadiel municipality. History The village was first mentioned between 819 and 825 as "in Fatruwerde". The etymology is unclear. Ferwert is a ''terp'' village with a radial structure which developed several centuries Before Christ. In the 11th or 12th century a dike was built leading to Marrum and Blije. The area to the south of the ''terp'' was property of the church and became a square known as Vrijhof (free court). Ferwert developed into the capital of the ''grietenij'' (predecessor of the municipality) Ferwerderadiel. The earliest church probably dated from the 9th century. Forum for Democracy ( nl, Forum voor Democratie, FvD) is a right-wing populist Eurosceptic political party in the Netherlands that was founded as a think tank by Thierry Baudet and Henk Otten in 2016. The party first participated in elections in the 2017 general election, winning two seats in the House of Representatives. In the 2019 provincial elections, it won the most seats out of any party, although 61 out of 86 representatives have since defected. At the time of its conception the FvD was considered a conservative liberal and a eurosceptic movement positioned on the right-wing of the political spectrum, but after several founding members split from the party it has been described as adopting more radical policies and messages. JA21 (, backronym for Juiste Antwoord 2021, or 'Right Answer 2021') is a political party in the Netherlands, currently active in the Senate as the Nanninga Group (). It was founded in December 2020 by Joost Eerdmans and Annabel Nanninga after leaving Forum for Democracy on 26 November 2020. The party participated in the general election on 17 March 2021. Nicki Janna Francisca Pouw-Verweij (born 21 May 1991) is a Dutch physician and politician. She has served as member of the House of Representatives since March 2021. Pouw-Verweij studied medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and was working on a PhD in rheumatology at the VU University Medical Center, which she achieved on 16 January 2023. As a member of Forum for Democracy (FvD), Pouw-Verweij was elected to the Provincial Council of Utrecht in March 2019, and to the Senate in June 2019. Between 31 March 2021 and 5 December 2023, 187 individuals served as representatives in House of Representatives, the 150-seat lower house of the States General of the Netherlands. Vera Bergkamp was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives for this period. The members were elected during the general election of 17 March 2021. Sixteen parties were elected to the House, the highest number since 1918.
