Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS Acute Foundation Trust which operates 10 hospitals throughout Greater Manchester. Manchester () is a city in Greater Manchester, England. It had a population of 552,000 in 2021. Mike Deegan
Sir Mike Deegan, has been Chief Executive of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and its various predecessorssince 2001. He was reckoned by the Health Service Journal to be the 54th most influential person in the English NHS in 2015. In August 2022 he announced his retirement. Early Warning Score
An early warning score (EWS) is a guide used by medical services to quickly determine the degree of illness of a patient. It is based on the vital signs (respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, blood pressure, pulse/heart rate, AVPU response). Scores were developed in the late 1990s when studies showed that in-hospital deterioration and cardiac arrest were often preceded by a period of increasing abnormalities in the vital signs. Principles The resulting observations are compared to a normal range to generate a single composite score, for instance based on the following diagram (an early modified EWS): A score of five or more is statistically linked to increased likelihood of death or admission to an intensive care unit. Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) were NHS organisations set up by the Health and Social Care Act 2012 to organise the delivery of NHS services in each of their local areas in England. Manchester Central Convention Complex (commonly known as Manchester Central or GMEX (Greater Manchester Exhibition Centre)) is an exhibition and conference centre converted from the former Manchester Central railway station in Manchester, England. The NHS Nightingale Hospital North West is the third of the temporary NHS Nightingale Hospitals set up by NHS England in 2020 to help to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. __TOC__ Building The hospital was constructed inside the Manchester Central Convention Complex and opened on 13 April 2020.
