MTVph (formerly MTV Philippines and MTV Pinoy) was a 24-hour music/entertainment television network co-owned by ViacomCBS Networks International Asia and Solar Entertainment Corporation. The network was launched on August 1, 2017, on all cable/satellite providers in the Philippines. History Prior to its launch, the channel was known as MTV Philippines and MTV Pinoy. During the MTV Philippines years, the joint venture ownership of the channel had been changed (from 2001-2007, it was Nation Broadcasting Corporation and in 2007-2010, it was All Youth Channels, Inc.). MTV Philippines
MTV Philippines was a 24-hour music/entertainment television network owned by All Youth Channels, Inc., through a partnership with MTV Networks Asia Pacific. The network originally started its broadcast on January 1, 2001. Two other MTV-branded networks carrying domestic its final broadcast on March 20, 2011, content have since struggled to stay on the air through the 2010s, neither lasting more than four years. Prior to its last incarnation, MTV Philippines was a corporate venture between MTV Networks Asia and Nation Broadcasting Corporation. Solar Entertainment Corporation (simply known as Solar or SEC) is a Filipino media company based in Makati, Philippines. Founded and owned by the brothers, Wilson, William and Willy Tieng. Solar Entertainment operates two digital free-to-air channels and two cable channels. MTV Pinoy
MTV Pinoy (formerly MTV Philippines) was a Philippine music and entertainment pay television network owned by Viacom International Media Networks Asia (a division of Viacom International Media Networks), with a partnership with Viva Entertainment to collaborate on local productions, events, marketing and advertising sales. The network was launched on February 1, 2014. It operated from 4pm to 1am, after that it would rebroadcast MTV Asia's programming. On December 1, 2014, MTV Pinoy launched new shows and it became a 24-hour channel. By that time, only live events and specials and a few of its programs were still simulcast from MTV Asia. However, on January 1, 2017, the channel was closed down and replaced by MTV Southeast Asia. "Video Killed the Radio Star" is a song written by Trevor Horn, Geoff Downes and Bruce Woolley in 1979. It was recorded concurrently by Bruce Woolley and the Camera Club (with Thomas Dolby on keyboards) for their album '' English Garden'' and by British new wave/synth-pop group the Buggles, which consisted of Horn and Downes (and initially Woolley). The Buggles' version of the track was recorded and mixed in 1979, released as their debut single on 7 September 1979 by Island Records, and included on their first album ''The Age of Plastic''. The backing track was recorded at Virgin's Town House in West London, and mixing and vocal recording was done at Sarm East Studios. All Youth Channels, Inc. (AYC) is a cable TV and concert management company in the Philippines.
